Guilty as charged!
Dissent IS NOT treason!

Criticizing the stupidity, mendacity, and corruption of sitting politicians who've time and time again proven all of these things true, is NOT treason!

Suggesting we kill other Americans for exercising their Freedom of Speech IS NOT patriotism. It's moral cowardice.

It's rather interesting how this works. We're allegedly guilty of treason and deserving of death because we point out how certain politicians are acting against the long-term interests of America and its citizens. It's technical "rulers," if you want to get down to the nitty-gritty. Us.

Those we elect to high office, and those who are appointed to serve those we elect, owe allegiance to US--America as a whole, rich and poor, educated and ignorant, healthy and sick. They swear this allegiance upon the document that defines us as a nation. The Constitution of the United States. The foundation of our form of government.

The Merriam-Webster provides THESE definitions of "Treason."

1 : the betrayal of a trust : TREACHERY
2 : the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign's family

Deliberately acting in such a way to subvert the Constitution, the ultimate law of the land and the defining feature of America, by those who were not only elected and appointed to protect it, but took an oath to do so, is a betrayal of trust. They, as such, are guilty of treason by virtue of the first definition.

But wait, there's more.

Grover Norquist, the Father of the modern Neo-con movement, has expressed his desire to "...drown <government> it in the bathtub."

To replace it with what? Well, as a matter of fact, he'd like to replace it with corporations. Corporations would decide everything that has anything to do with them.

They'd choose how they hired, who they hired, what they were paid, what kind of working conditions they had, the extent of their benefits--if any, and how many hours they'd work for their salary.

They'd decide what substances would be considered toxic, and how and where to get rid of them.

They'd decide if drugs were safe enough for public consumption.

They'd decide whether manufactured items--cars, toys, clothing, etc--were safe enough to be put on the market.

They'd decide what education citizens needed, and what age they could be put to work. They'd decide whether it was reasonable to have a child of 10 working in the fields for 12 hours a day for a dollar an hour.

Not We the People, but They, the Corporations.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a concerted and overt attempt to overthrow the government of the United States. The government of We The People.

Thus, the second definition is fulfilled.

Am I wrong?

So who here, in fact, is committing treason?

That's the Question of the Century, is it not?

In addition:

Roughly 2/3 of the population does not vote. So, it may, at least on a statistical basis, be said that 1/3 of the population are de-facto representatives of the whole. This idea is based on the concept of polling, which assumes that a large group of people can be used as a indication of the voting preferences of the whole.

Thus, roughly 50% of the American people, give or take a few percentage points, votes Democratic a majority of the time, or would do so if they chose to vote. The same holds true for Republicans.

The Republican Party has made no attempts to hide its desire and, as a matter of fact, it's overt actions intending to establish a "permanent" Republican majority in Congress and, in effect, render the Democrats completely impotent. Thus, rob roughly fifty percent of the American people of any measure of representation in Congress.

The Right Wing talking head pundits work in cahoots with those in power who want to disenfranchise roughly 50% of the population. They are willing to do nearly anything to "catapult the propaganda."

They are actively subverting the Constitution. They'd like to see us dead or imprisoned rather than free to speak our minds.

We have never tried to silence them even while they were calling for our deaths.

We, The People (and, yes, that includes liberals too) are the rightful rulers of this country. Overt attempts to subvert our Constitutional Rights, the deliberate cultivation of hatred among those with opposing viewpoints, and outright deception to further the goals of those who are attempting to subvert the government from within, are crimes against America, its Constitution, and its people.

Now who's guilty of treason?

One clue...it's not the liberals.
