5. These were Kurds, specifically Yazidis
The Yazidi are a "fusion" sect like Sikhs, Phalangists, or (some would say) Sufis, and are considered heterodox by most Christians and Muslims. In short, they ain't got many friends there.

The Yazidi were recently famous for a thousand or so of them beating a 17-year-old girl to death while recording it on their cell phones and posting it on youtube. This from a sect that denies the existence of evil...
