DELAY On ROVE: "He's Not Dying...I Think He'll Be MORE Powerful Then Ever"
Tom DeLay: 'Rove will be more powerful than ever' David Edwards and Nick Juliano
Published: Tuesday August 14, 2007

Former Rep. Tom DeLay warned Tuesday that Democrats shouldn't be so quick to rejoice about Karl Rove's resignation because the revered and reviled political strategist isn't going to shrink back into the shadows.

"He's not dying. ... He's not just going to go away; he'll still be around," DeLay said in an interview of Fox News Tuesday morning. "In fact, I think he'll be more powerful than ever, because he'll be involved in a lot of campaigns, I'm sure. He'll be an adviser to a lot of sitting elected officials. He'll be bigger than ever."

..............

"If they want his advice, he'll give all nine of them his advice," DeLay predicted. "I know he'll be a major player ... particularly in 08 and beyond."

15. But, he's right. What happened when we thought BushInc was crushed in 1993?
Edited on Tue Aug-14-07 12:53 PM by blm
They were at their weakest point in Jan 1993 and should have been finished off through the documents that the new president could facilitate access for those in congress who had been pursuing Bush's operations for years up against much stonewalling and obstruction.

Instead all the outstanding matters left were swept under the rug and BushInc was protected and their operations were PRIVATIZED where they could regroup and grow STRONGER before they came roaring back into the power of the WH in 2001.

What lesson did Rove learn from that? That the DC powerstructure can be counted on to protect the Bushes and their secrecy and their privilege.

6. DeLay is talking out of his rump again.
I have a feeling Tom and Karl will be seeing quite a bit of each other in the future. They'll be sipping drinks and talking about the good old days when they were relevant in US politics.

10. Politicans are more powerful after they leave office?
In dictatorships, maybe.

If that's a correct statement, there's something seriously wrong here.

16. The architect
of a house of cards with a foundation of shit.

Rove politicized the Iraq war and Mideast policy thereby dooming it to miserable failure.

Rove "saw in Bush everything he was not", a trust-funder to latch onto, a punk-ass preppie from a rich family.

story today from The Gate:

Rove "saw in Bush everything that he was not. And he also saw that together they would be a very formidable political force," said Slater, co-author of one of the most authoritative books on Bush and Rove and now senior political correspondent for the Dallas Morning News.
<snip>
one very important point here that isn't lost on longtime Rove observers: He's always worked for Bush, not the other way around. The confluence of events that led to the midterm defeat -- deafness on the Iraq war, a base discontented after scandal and betrayal -- originated from the Oval Office and Capitol Hill, not the mind of one political consultant, as well-placed and influential as he was.

18. "If they want his advice, ..." LOL! Umm, Yeah, Cuz Chimpy Is So Popular
And he's done wonders for the GOP in general, I'm sure they'll be clambering for his advice.

Given everything Rove was given it's unbelievable what a failure he is. It takes a real fuck-up to squander everything he had.
