Obey: Impeachment would be wasted effort

President Bush and other members of his administration have committed "impeachable offenses" but Democrats in Congress would not get far if they conducted hearings on those matters, U.S. Rep. Dave Obey says.

"It's a question of what's a productive use of your time," said Obey, the highest ranking Democrat and chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.

Obey also defended the Democrats' record since taking control of Congress in January, noting that the House had passed all of its appropriations bills before the late-summer recess.

and camp out with impeachment signs! In fact, that's what we all should do. I'm seeing my Congressman on Monday. And that's what I intend to do. I'll go for the meeting and spend the rest of the day in Annandale, VA in my bright orange Impeach Bush and Cheney shirt and IMPEACH THEM BOTH sign.

Investigations don't lead to anything and any meaningful legislation gets vetoed by the Whitehouse. Shaming and discrediting politicians and their philosophies is only thing that would make me feel good after severn years of continual setbacks.

That is from the horse's mouth, by the way.

He was yelling at a person who confronted him about impeachment and ending the war in the halls of Congress....saying that he had a plan that would end the war very soon. He didn't...because the war continues unabated, but there he was frothing at the mouth calling his own people idiots.

And he is still telling people with conviction and the Constitution on their side that they are "idiots". Thius is a man who has done jack squat in Congress to stop the Bush administration.....jack squat, but he is still convinced that he has the only plan that will work....passing legislation that Bush is sure to veto.

Makes me feel good that our congressmen have such respect for the rule of the law and the people who vote into office. With friends like this who needs enemies?
