31. Yes, in the pages scandal he said "What's important is, what did the Democrats know and
when did they know it?"

"What did the Democrats know and when did they know it?" After everyone knew that the GOP had prevented the Democrats from knowing about the actions of their perverted member. The important thing was not what Foley did, or what the majority party did about it, but what the Democrats knew?

Sheesh! What a maroon.

19. I love it when you cuss like a Sailor
Doing great my Dear. The Mississippi "winter" has been hell on my knees but I'm still kicking. Fixing to get a second blooming of mums, and got to start weedeating around the house; and burning brush. I'm dreading it. The misses and I are heading for Slidell on Saturday doing a little plant shopping, maybe breakfast at Crackerbarrel. She's got a gift card to Lowe's so we'll swing by there. I'm looking for two different colored wave petunias to put in our wheelbarrow out front. My mother in law is coming to visit in July so I got to start cleaning up now!! Yeah, old dickhead has enough time to make something of himself, but I'm not holding my breath.

21. LOL! I'm trying to keep it clean today!
The petunias will be beautiful by this summer! It has been really cold and damp here. Not very nice weather. I can hardly wait for springtime. My daffodils are already blooming despite the cold weather! I'm having my butterfly bush and nandinas pruned back today. These shrubs are in right front of my house and had gotten too big and straggly. By springtime, they will come back beautifully! I think I'll plant some more pansies in pots this weekend. I love the purple and orange ones.

Be careful burning that brush! I have a friend who is a volunteer firefighter and she goes to a lot of out of control residential brush fires!

25. Oh Please don't
Its hard for me not to cuss when the subject is republicans. Your Nandinas are "big and scraggly?" My God. How do you that? We really enjoy ours but they never need pruning. In fact they usually look like they need last rights. They are on the north side of the house and get an adequate amount of sunlight, maybe not adequate enough. My neighbor is a volunteer fire fighter and I notify him every time I get froggy. He's the kind of person you like to have as a neighbor, always helpful, never nosy. He was a Godsend after the hurricane. I'd love to think we won't have anymore frosts. Our dragonwinged begonias from last year are coming back. I'm gonna actively pursue the following about April:

http://msucares.com/news/print/sgnews/sg06/sg061005.html

We have a wishing well on the east side of the house and I usually put Hibiscus around it. Those rum runners might be a little pricy but I'm gonna track em down.

29. Wow! I had no idea that plants changed color like that! Very cool!
My nandinas are on a western exposure and thus are in full sun. They grow like weeds. They were planted a bit too close to the house so I have to keep them pruned to size so that they don't overwhelm my front door area. They are very tall (6-7') (I had to cut them back completely last spring so that the front of my house could be painted and they came right back to over 4' high within a few months!) and so are due for pruning.

Good luck with those rum runners and thanks for the link! :)

He was defending Mark the Perv big time when the Foley scandal hit late last year. I'm wondering if the two will be exchanging Valentine cards next week. ;-)

26. It's mostly conservative, independent thinking mountain people
(my whole family is from western NC - think of Asheville, Canton, Waynesboro, Cherokee and the Great Smokey Mountains National park) with pockets of more liberal and blue areas like Asheville and a number of small liberal arts college towns. This area was settled way back in the mid 1700s by Scots-Irish immigrants (My many greats grandfather was one of them.)

17. Bwa ha ha ha - McHenry is AN0THER chickenhawk republicon

Another big mouth who NEVER served his nation for even one day.

The republicons keep proving it: they have no honor

Here's a snipped from Distinguished and Decorated Democratic Vetern Jack Murtha,
laying the slapdown on another sleazy CHICKENHAWK republicon:

http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/archives/2006/06/congr... /

Jack Murtha unleashed the chickehawk meme in the halls of Congress, castigating Patrick McHenry for vowing to continue the fight against Islamic extremists. (Video of McHenry’s remarks here.)

“It is easy to stay in an air-conditioned office and say, ‘I am going to stay the course,’ ” he said, angrily, after Mr. McHenry, who never served in the military, was finished. “It is the troops that are doing the fighting, not the members of Congress that are doing the fighting.”

Behind that exchange was a demographic reality: The debate, which has consumed the House and the Senate for the last two weeks, was largely conducted by men and women who have not served. Twenty-five percent of the House, and 31 percent of the Senate, are veterans, the lowest proportions since World War II, according to the Military Officers Association of America.

30. in fairness, there are combat vets on both sides of the aisle
Colin Powell, Richard Armitage, Tom Ridge, Bush I -- all served in combat I believe. Also, Sens. McCain, Hagel, Stevens, and Warner and Reps. Gilchrest, Gibbons, Hunter, Norwood, among others.

And, of course, on the Democratic side, there also are plenty of combat vets, including Kerry, Inouye, Akaka, Carper, Clark, Webb, Rangel (Korea), Murtha, Conyers, Baca, Boswell, Boyd. The list is actually much much longer, but that's just a sampling.
