New Al Qaeda threat of radioactive truck attacks naming New York, Los Angeles, Miami

The al Qaeda communications accuse the Americans of the grave error of failing to take seriously the videotape released by the American al Qaeda spokesman Adam Gaddahn last week. “They will soon realize their mistake when American cities are hit by quality operations,” said one message.

Another said the attacks would be carried out “by means of trucks loaded with radio-active material against America’s biggest city and financial nerve center.”

A third message mentioned New York, Los Angeles and Miami as targets. It drew the answer: “The attack, with Allah’s help, will cause an economic meltdown, many dead, and a financial crisis on a scale that compels the United States to pull its military forces out of many parts of the world, including Iraq, for lack of any other way of cutting down costs.”

NYPD Responds to Unsubstantiated Threat
August 10, 2007 - 11:38pm

NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities were taking extra counterterrorism precautions Friday in response to what they said was an unsubstantiated radiological threat to the city.

Officials said they had not changed the city's terror alert status in response to online chatter mentioning a truck packed with radioactive material. But police deployed extra radiological sensors on street, water and air patrols, and were stopping vehicles at checkpoints in lower Manhattan and around the city.

Deputy Police Commissioner Paul J. Browne called the measures "strictly precautionary." He said the online posts were made following a video released Sunday that featured an American member of al-Qaida threatening foreign diplomats and embassies across the Islamic world.

11. So AP doesn't come out and say where it came from.
Reuters cites Debka.

New York Times cites Debka.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/11/nyregion/11threat.html?_r=1&ref=nyregion&oref=slogin

New York Daily News cites Debka.

Uncle Rupert's NY rag, the Post, ran the AP story.

I can't believe that major newspapers are buying this.

9. Yes, it was, that was my point.
My response on it was something like:
title: "something must be happening"
body: "Is impeachment moving forward? Perhaps there's been some RICO paydirt?"

8. That must be what those two - TWO - cops were doing
Edited on Sat Aug-11-07 02:01 AM by americanstranger
at the Midtown Tunnel (one of the major entry points into Manhattan) as I drove into the city tonight.

We were in the neighborhood near the Empire State Building (supposedly one of the targets) - no heightened police presence there.

We went down to the Lower East Side for dinner and a show - hardly saw any cops.

After the show, we walked all over the Village. No cops there.

If I'm to believe my lying eyes rather than the Corporate Media, I'd say I saw zero evidence of any heightened security measures. No checkpoints. No roadblocks. No nothin'.

Oh, and the New York Times cites Debka as the source for the 'chatter.' Since when is fricken Debka a reliable source for anything???
