Bill Moyers Journal - Impeachment discussion
Edited on Fri Aug-10-07 08:35 PM by kittykitty
Discussion of why Cheney especially should be impeached. 2nd half is looking back at Clinton's impeachment.

Now back to the impeachment discussion. Bruce Fine and John Nichols are the participants!

Edit to add more info.

1. I just watched and it was Bruce Fein (conservative) and John Nichols
(liberal) and the discussion was very factual and Constitution-oriented. The two men were in total agreement that to protect the Constitution that Bush and Cheney must be impeached, because their crimes cannot become precedent for their future behavior or for the conduct of future presidents.

2. Just an addition that is crucial to the program; both men, who are
usually on opposite sides of the proverbial aisle, said that dems and repubs should be seeking impeachment because the rule of law and the Constitution and country must come before party. To paraphrase John Nichols, impeachment is not a political crisis; it is rather the answer to a political crisis. He also reminded us that the Constitution does not mention such modern day political notions as parties or caucuses or corporations, but it does mention impeachment no less than 6 times. The founding fathers felt that the executive would sometimes stretch for more power and made provisions for just such a situation.
