A former Pittsburgh police officer, who was convicted of aggravated assault and federal officials say was injured by his homemade explosives, is scheduled to appear in federal court today.
Paul Anthony Palmer Jr., 38, of Cecil, was injured May 1 in the explosion…

He was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in May 2006 for shooting at a tractor-trailer in a 2003 road rage incident…

On May 8, authorities seized two explosive devices in the house and a third under the steps to the house, court records said. They also found "a large amount of literature and items commonly associated with white supremacist groups, in particular, the Aryan Nations," according to an affidavit.

Palmer has tattoos typically associated with the Aryan Nations, whose motto is "violence solves everything," it said. <…>
