The vote that didn't happen

We had a county dem meeting tonight, we were to vote on impeachment for Bush/Cheney. I was quite excited about this and proud that we would be a county to at least vote. Came to the end of business and the chairman says that our rep, Kirsten Gillibrand asked him to not have this vote. It would look bad if the largest county in her district were to vote for impeachment. It would get out to the press and well she would have to actually take a stand and the leadership has it 'off the table'. She received a lot of money in '06 from the DCCC, she is a Blue Dog but I have tried not to hold that against her since most of her votes are ok. She voted against the Fairness Doctrine but she did vote no on last weekends fiasco about FISA. She is pro choice. She also voted for the funds for war because she will not defund the war. She had no right to interfere in this vote.
