One of the most important threads in DU history is now running in GD.

It's a thread by leveymg that begins to tie THE WHOLE THING together--everything from Iran/Contra to Duke Cunningham--as part of one gigantic, Saudi-financed web of intrigue with the ultimate goal of (pardon the cliché) ruling the world.

Here is the thread. Read it. Get back to me when you're done.

Good--Now let's get down to business. What are we gonna do about this thing? Somehow, emailing the link to Olbermann and calling your Congressman doesn't seem like the whole answer here.

Obviously, the first thing we need to do is to make as many people as possible aware of this. But of course we have done that with all kinds of things in the past, with little cumulative effect.

A thought experiment--Suppose a majority of adult Americans knew about and believed this story. Given the widespread nature of the internet, it might actually be possible to bring that off. But that would not in itself derail the Juggernaut. After all, a majority of people oppose the war now. but it still rges on. A majority have now noticed that there's something funny going on with the climate, but the carbon people just keep rolling along.

What would it take? What might be an effective action plan? What, in other words, DO WE DO NOW?

1. What do we do? You ask this as if we actually...
could do something.

The Saudis have vast asmounts of money and influence simply because we need their oil, and we will kiss their asses until they run out of it. When they do run out, we will most likely find some excuse to wipe them off the map.

These stories go back to Aramco and Khashoggi's dealings, and little is going to change until we don't need Mideast oil any more. Jeez, there was a reason we installed this Royal Family over there in the first place, and the biggest fear amongst all in power, or would-be's in power, is that the Sauds go the way of the Shah.

6. What concrete progress comes out of the big marches?
I understand their value for raising awareness, energizing people, making connections, etc. but am not sure of concrete gains made from them. I'm not saying there AREN'T any, I am asking you (or anyone) to educate me on it.
