This is probably going to come down to one moment in time.
A split second in time. That point where the the last bullet too many gets fired.

This is OUR country. This is OUR decision now - not some pimple on the ass of our history.

If our 4th estate fails us now to keep us really informed - then they are no better than that idiot that brought us to this point.

Cause at least in theory - if we really knew what was going on - we could stop it before that moment happens. This is our country - not his. And we will have to live with the consequences - not him.

Joe

1. Consider this,
Edited on Wed Aug-01-07 06:04 PM by jimshoes
judging by what happened today at the House hearing of Cpl. Tillman, do these people seem the least bit worried that the reigns of power might switch to Democratic control in the near future? It doesn't to me. This taken with the cavalier and contemptuous attitude toward the recent congressional oversight attempts that the admin has demonstrated these last few months, tells me that they have no intention of letting themselves be put in a position where they could possibly be held to account. Ever.

I don't have a crystal ball so I don't know what the future will bring, but one doesn't need an overly active imagination to see where all this is heading. I strongly feel that there will be no change of administrations in the normal sense. If that happens, all bets are off.

2. Those people - are not US.
I know this has been tilted lately - but man, this is not about "democrat" or "republican" -

This has to with us - they haven't represented us for a long time now.

We pull the wrong trigger now - and maybe 600 million maybe a billion people die - and alot of them will be us. We are coming quickly on our "Arch Duke Ferdinand" moment here.

And I do not trust any of these people to decide the right thing - especially not this administration. They have been nearly 100% wrong all the time.

I trust us.

6. The Bush junta has shown its contempt of all of us for quite some time.
I believed, still do to some extent, in us.

But, damnit!!! People seem to be in 'powerless' mode,...or something.

There are TRILLIONS of reasons to be outraged BUT,...,...people are just, getting through life.

These effin' THUGS have TAKEN, via lies and manipulation and thievery, our country's SOUL!!!

These effin' THUGS stepped beyond ALL BOUNDARIES the day they took over!!!

WHAT MOMENT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Could it pass?

I believe it HAS passed.

The worse is yet to occur because people believe a turning moment will happen. IT HAS PASSED!!! And, what scares me is,...there are still so many people, even congress-critters, who are living in the illusion that they have ANY control over what this effin' THUGGERY JUNTA will do, next.

THEY HAVE NO CONTROL,...UNLESS THEY ASSERT IT!!!

The junta will maintain control,...unless it is taken from them.

As it stands, now,...no one will take control from the junta.

It is true.

I am sorry.

7. Oh - this is our country - they are just hired help.
And he is the worst of all alright - by a long shot - but he is not alone.

We do control our destiny - and we are fully capable of running people out of town on a rail to do that - we have done that as a country before.

There is a precipice looming - If WE are in the position, as a people - to decide that destiny - then I trust us. But we are not even given the dignity to make the call. Not even the information to see the edge coming fast.

I do trust the collective judgement of the informed citizens - and I really resent a "press corps" infatuated with Brittany Spears.

5. Our measure has been taken----in November 2000 and November 2004.
And in every month, week, and day for close to six years.

And since November 2006, the measure of our Party's leaders has been taken.

The conclusion---and it must be Bushco's conclusion---is that nothing, NOTHING, will happen to oppose the dissolution of the electoral process.

Indeed, Bushco can expect to have Congressional support.

8. I think it is deeper for us -
You make clear to our people that the folly is about to bring on a big conflagration - and you watch what we do - conservative, liberal - it doesn't matter. Americans are Americans.

We went thru two world wars - and god knows we stopped that second one at very great cost.

We will not go thru a third one without the country agreeing to it. And we will not do it unless we do agree.

SO I guess - this is one of those "theories" - how much of this country really believes that the constitution is a suicide pact, exactly?? Can be warped in this way??

We did speak tepidly already - about this war.

We won't be tepid when the consequences are that great.

Trust us - I trust us - and just give us the information. We really are pretty smart with the truth in our hands.

Joe

3. personally, I think our 4th estate jumped the shark specifically this week
Two stories this week should open the eyes of even the little guy, I think. The O'Hanlon and Pollack editorial and how they were portrayed in the media at large as "war critics" even with a large body of countervailing evidence should be an eye-opener, and I think the story about how US troop deaths have fallen in July (compared to last month, but without taking into account that July has been a "slow" month the last three years), since it so blatantly is using our soldiers for propaganda purposes, will turn people's stomachs.

I think that, in the last few months or so, the average Joe has really seen Fox revealed for the propaganda that it is, and stories like these two will expose the creeping Rupertism in the rest of the media.

4. They have been awol for a long time.
There is a pretty good reason I don't like or trust CNN anymore -

And I used to trust them once.

People died cause they failed to do their jobs - I'll say that.

Fox was never news - CNN used to be reliable news - I guess that is the difference.
