I've been suffering with the rest of y'all since Bushco stole the last election. I've been looking at the candidates and I don't think Obama is electable. I don't think Hillary is electable. So who else is there? I heard John Edwards say one thing that sold me: I want to make America a force for good in the world again."

I'll do what I can to make that happen.

1. Hmmm... I might agree about Hillary, but....

Obama leads al potential Republican rivals by a solid percentage in all the polls. Additionally, I wouldn't say Hillary can't be elected. I just think it's more difficult.

Why's that? I mean, it can't be just the one line you quoted in the OP, no? What is it about Edwards that akes you prefer him over the other to? Is it merely the electability factor? That you don't think Obama and Hillary are electable? Is there nothing about the issues?

In the end, I think it is electability.

My gut feel is that the U.S. isn't ready for a black president, and even if it is, not one with as little experience. Obama is a good man, but I just don't see it. Gut feel (or, maybe prejudice... who knows?)

As far as Hillary goes, what has she done for New York? I asked my mom, a resident of suburban Buffalo, and there isn't much she can claim as far as Hillary goes. My mom likes Hillary, but Hillary hasn't done much to help upstate. I don't see her as terribly effective. She's too polarizing.

Edwards.... maybe I'm just being sucked in, but I just find the guy captivating whenever he opens his mouth. EVERYTHING he says, I think "amen!" and "me too!" The guy just resonates with me. I think he knows what he's getting into, and he knows he'll get chewed up, and he's up to the challenge.

5. I'm not sure yet who I'll back but,

if Edwards became the nominee that would suit me just fine.

"I want to make America a force for good in the world again." That sure is a noble, worthy, and inspiring goal. That IS the road we want to get back on.

7. Perhaps he isn't saying anything unique

but he just comes across as genuine to me. I feel that Hillary is a power-lover; Obama is a climber. Edwards comes across to me as... a servant. Someone who knows the wrongs of the system and wants to make them right for the common guy.

I'm in an income class where I should be voting Republican, but I just think America is all about helping others to pull themselves up. I get the same vibe from Edwards. The other two seem to be more about themselves than about others.

Edwards is running at great sacrifce... if elected, he loses, perhaps, valuable time with his wife who might not be around for all that long, but he also sees his personal life as something that might have to be sacrificed for the greater good.

The other two candidates strike me as being more about their own ambition and benefit. Edwards' best benefit, personally, would be to attend to his wife and enjoy what time he has left with her, but he sees the service of the country as a greater calling.

I'm probably making him out to be more noble than he is; I know he's just a guy. But... the guy just resonates with me.

I like John Edwards and won't have any problems voting for him if nominated. He has the strength and courage to follow through with his vision of America.
