Republican hypocrisy has reached historical proportions..
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-bush28jul28,1,45044.story

Bush also is aggressively asserting his presidential privileges regarding the right to hire and fire prosecutors and the confidentiality of his staff's internal communications. And the White House has lashed out at a congressional move to hold senior administration officials in contempt of Congress for refusing to testify in a probe of the prosecutor firings.

The White House suggests Democrats have lost their moorings.

"Every day this Congress gets a little more out-of-control: a new call for a special prosecutor, a new investigation launched, a new subpoena issued, an unprecedented contempt vote and an old score somehow settled," White House spokesman Tony Fratto said this week.

"In our view, this is pathetic," added White House spokesman Tony Snow, denouncing the "political theater" as the House Judiciary Committee voted to cite two senior Bush advisers for contempt of Congress

:wtf:

1. Political theatre is calling an "emergency" special session of Congress
on a Sunday to vote for "symbolic" legislation to "save one person", and flying the President in in his jammies to sign it ...

and later, complaining that Democrats were costing millions of dollars in overtime despite the fact that THE POLITICIANS DON'T GET OVERTIME! THEY HAVE FIXED, EXTREMELY HIGH SALARIES!

3. Well cry me a river
If I recall (and I do), there was somewhere around 50 million dollars spent on the last President because he had an extra marital affair. There were allegations of shady land deals, on which the Clinton's lost money, murder, proven false SEVEN times, blackmail, and many many other allegations. All they could find was that like most married men who have had affairs, Clinton denied it. That money could have well been spent on health care, immigration reform, or even the right wing's celebrated "underfunded" military. So republicans, just shut the fuck up about "endless investigations", especially since it appears that bush and co. will beat the rap everytime anyway by simply stalling for time.

5. "Every day this Congress gets a little more out-of-control".
Well, the Executive Branch isn't *supposed* to control the Congress. Those first six years really spoiled them.

6.  The congress is not supposed to be "in control,"
at least not by the executive branch.
Their protestations that every day the congress gets a little more out of control is, in my mind, a very positive thing. The congress that was in control, some of which-thankfully-is now gone and more will be leaving before terribly long, was largely responsible for the mess we now find ourselves in.
A congress under control of any but the American people is no congress, merely a well paid bunch of hacks, flacks and servile enablers--pretty much what we've had for far longer than we deserved.

8. Hey, it's the only way remaining for them to make history.
That is, short of trying for a historical coup d' etat.

9. What is he referring to as being pathetic?
If I was clever enough, I'd make some reference to him calling the White House/Bush Administration pathetic. Maybe someone else can do it for me.
