Fearing another attack on the homeland.....
Just watched the talk show this am. The republicans seems bent on still scaring the bee jesus out of the American people, saying that the Democrats are not serious about security because folks have forgotten about 9/11. I am hearing more and more statements from the Republicans like this which makes me believe that this administration might even be moving to stage and attack within the US just to hold onto power through FEAR. But, to me, this is what another attack within the US will really mean:

That despite all bluster about who is best for our security (Dems or Repubs), despite an illegal invasion of a sovereign nation that had not attacked us, despite the loss of over 3600 lives of our children, fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, despite the mortgaging of our economic future by spending astronomical sums on warfare, despite all of this...another attack within the US will mean that this President and his administration and the Republicans are not able to protect us from further attacks. That is the real message but they will try to spin it against the Dems. That is why the Dems had better be prepared to stand against the charges and frame the issue in terms of what such a potential attack will really mean. Maybe if they start now to frame it in those terms it will keep these brown-boot thugs from performing a black-bag operation that will endanger many citizens. I just really think they are not beyond doing that? Am I paranoid? Wrong?

1. There is some logic in this
The Republicans (Bush Administration) ward off an attack by damaging the US more than an attack could. The Democrats, by reversing the damage could invite an attack. Of course, a competent Democratic administration would actually do something to catch perpetrators.

Just think. If Hitler had been a Republican he would have destroyed Nazi Germany himself and WWII would have been prevented.

Between Bush's nomination and September 11, 2001 the US stockmarket had already lost $2 trillion in capitalization and the US Dollar was dropping against the Euro.

How much has Bush cost the US since then? As long as Bush is in charge, bin Laden can relax.

2. Your last point is a good one.
I have often said that our enmies don't have to attack us again. They can just sit back an watch us destroy ourselves. And nothing I wrote in my original post differs from this point. That is why I think another attack inside the US will not necessarily be from our foreign enemies.

3. I wish people wouldn't use the word "homeland"
It's a frame the administration uses.
It has echoes of the Nazis.

7. You're not paranoid.
It's called "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

The Bush Administrations' track record, from soup to nuts, has been one BS lie after another. Would they stage an attack somewhere? I believe they would if they felt they could gain from it or if it furthered their goals (whatever they may be, but are probably motivated by some economic gain)

This administration is the most corrupt group that ever held office in my lifetime. There are many who should be in prison but are not.
