Half a trillion investor dollars wiped out in 2 days, but the word "crash" never gets mentioned.
No wonder they want the WSJ.

3. because it's not a crash
by any measure. Percentagewise, it was a prety small drop.

4. Yeah, airlines are careful to avoid...

...that word in the safety procedures booklet they tuck inside the seat-back pouch. They tell you what to do in case of an "unscheduled water landing" though -- say, that wouldn't be anything like crashing into the sea, would it?

6. What makes the article interesting is the obvious avoidance of that term...
even in a historic sense its not used.

8. There's a strange mass denial in MSM as well as...
...the population at large about many unpleasant truths since BushCo's debut -- it's right out of a twilight zone episode.

7. Guardian: "crash" not used, but almost!
http://business.guardian.co.uk/story/0,,2136640,00.html

-snip-
Other analysts said there were reasons to fear that worse was to come, with warnings that the tightening of credit conditions meant the bubble had burst for private equity. "When there is uncertainty about financing, then private equity is not so quick to make deals. It would take out one of the props for the market," said Elliot Spar, market strategist with Ryan Beck & Co.

Julian Jessop, international economist at Capital Economics, said markets were being complacent in believing confidence would quickly return once the US housing market recovered. "For a start, the US housing market will not bottom out any time soon. Second, a much broader reassessment of risk appetite may only just have begun. Third, other factors might drive markets down further even if there is no more bad news from the US. Top of the list is the prospect of a disorderly unwinding of the yen carry trades."

sounds like they are waltzing around the word, but the concept is there...

11. Maybe we are heading for a correction. They are good in that they get
people's attention. It also reminds us small investors that it is a gamble. Never gamble more than you can handle losing.

I'm not an investor anymore. I got out when bush came in. The market wasn't as much fun in those days anyway. Tech was in a slump and many of us were hoping it didn't spread to other sectors. bush's phony energy crisis pushed us into a full blown recession. Asshole.

I don't miss the market. I got out with enough to buy this house. Good enough

12. The Dow Jones lost the last 3 months gains, that's all
It's higher that at any point in history before May 1, 2007. You call that a crash?
