Let's be real here. If candidate X says that Russ Feingold is a lying Communist sympathizer (for example), that's news, and we get to discuss those statements here. We post attacks on Republicans and Democrats alike here on DU. We get to discuss the public discourse that makes the news.

Personally, at this snapshot in the time\space continuum, I don't see how Sheehan unseats Pelosi. But I do see it making Democrats nervous, or at the very least, uneasy.

And at this time, in this space, I hope ALL politicians are uneasy. I want their fates to be tied to ours. I want them to be very afraid for their seats. I want them to honor their oaths of office, and their duties as Americans.

That's allowed here, correct???

1. Probably isn't.
There's already massive criticism about carrying criticism of Hillary because the response of the Obama campaign "sounds like a Drudge/ReThug attack". Push comes to shove, I'm sure such talk can be banned from this site with ease. The mods are being relatively indulgent. As soon as Sheehan formally announces as an independent candidate (I don't think she has just yet but will in a day or two?), she'll probably get the "take it to some other site" treatment and that right to speak will be completely ignored here.

2. I'm not sure, myself.
She certainly represents what one person can do when they fully embrace the true meaning of the First Amendment to the Constitution.

And all without the power of the corporomedia, although they are more than happy to savage her (does anyone remember Norah OD's "interview" while Cindy was on a hunger strike?)

Anyway, like you, I'm  MKJ

4. You can support her candidacy also, just can't advocate here.
Hell, go volunteer for her.

8. From my understanding that is allowed.
Here's a post from Skinner's post on the subject. I wasn't told this is correct or incorrect, to be fair. But I think this is how it's supposed to be.

From what I understand she can be discussed
Posted by Lone_Star_Dem on Tue Jul-24-07 12:13 PM

But no one who posts on this board may attempt to work toward the defeat of Pelosi via their postings here. The way I understand this is, one isn't to advocate her beating Pelosi, or post any fundraiser activity regarding her campaign, or really any other campaign related information. In other words it would be breach of the rules to say, "I hope she kicks Nancy to the curb," but to say "Cindy's right, Nancy should put impeachment on the table" would not.

This is what I'm going with until I hear otherwise.

11. I wont vote for Cindy
because I don't live in that district. That is the only reason I can consider.

I wonder if she will divide the left-of-center vote and give it to a Pukelickan. Yikes! She wouldn't be my hero the following day.

14. I am not one of those
She should be able to be discussed if she's making news. But it remains to be seen what the mods will think is "campaigning."
