Family Research Council president says if Giuliani gets GOP nod, Democrats will win in 2008

RAW STORY
Published: Tuesday February 6, 2007

According to the president of the Family Research Council, if former New York City mayor Rudy Guliani wins the Republican primaries, then Democrats will win in 2008.

Tony Perkins spoke to David Brody, the Capitol Hill correspondent for the Christian Broadcasting Network, who notes that "Perkins is the President of the influential Family Research Council in Washington," and "is words carry a lot of weight and also give keen insight as to what the movers and shakers within the social conservative movement are thinking."

"At this point most people have no idea where candidates stand on the issues, the polls simply reflect name ID," Perkins told the Christian Broadcasting Network. "Giuliani is known for his impressive leadership in the wake of 9/11, but most pro-family Americans do not yet realize how far outside of the mainstream of conservative thought that Mayor Giuliani social views really are."

Many conservatives are wary of Giuliani, because they consider him "too liberal" on issues such as abortion and gay rights, but other top GOP contenders such as Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney face similiar criticism.

2. The Repugs won't give Rudy a chance. I think they will send for the goons and swiftboat him when
the time is right. And we will see him tumble to the ground. I wish he would get the nod, but I think they're making way for J*b, to tell you the truth.

6. The FRC wants someone they can control, like Bush.
Edited on Tue Feb-06-07 02:41 PM by EOO
Right now it's looking like Mitt Romney, Tom Tancredo, Sam Brownback, or any number of nutjobs would be the easiest for them to control.

Of course, I can pretty much guarantee a Dem victory in '08 the way things are going. Sorry guys, no theocratic government for you!

11. Wait till they get a load of Rudy's wife
and find that the Summer White House will be in The Hamptons. They've got 5 marriages between them. If Rudy's 2nd wife doesn't do him in, golddigger Judi just might.

Judi is giving interviews:

(snip)

"I've always liked strong, macho men, and Rudy - I'm not saying this because he's my husband - is one of the smartest people on the planet," gushed the former Judith Nathan to Harper's Bazaar in editions due out Feb. 20.

"What people don't know is that Rudy's a very, very romantic guy. We love watching 'Sleepless in Seattle.' Can you imagine my big testosterone-factor husband doing that?"

Describing Rudy, a former federal prosecutor, as "the Energizer Bunny with no rechargeable batteries," Judi said, "One of the most remarkable things about my husband, who sleeps three or four hours a night, is his energy level and stamina.
