Supervisors, dispensary owner laud license move
BY JASON KOTOWSKI, Californian staff writer

Sheriff Donny Youngblood's decision to stop issuing licenses for medical marijuana dispensaries is being met with understanding by Kern County supervisors and even a Bakersfield dispensary owner.
Related Stories:

Supervisor Michael Rubio said he's glad Youngblood's decision has brought the issue of marijuana dispensaries back to the forefront.

California law allows the sale of medicinal marijuana to qualified patients. The drug, however, is still illegal under federal law and anyone selling marijuana in the state can be federally prosecuted.

Rubio said the board didn't want marijuana dispensaries in Kern County to begin with, but state law forced them to issue licenses.

"I'm disappointed the state is requiring us to do something that is against the law under the federal government," Rubio said.

5. Bakersfield-
I seem to recall that Bakersfield is reported to be California's Oklahoma, the redneck bastion of the west.
The job ahead of us is just as big as that behind.
(Sorry about the jab at Ok-it sounded funny at the time.)
