Media gets filibuster affair backwards: GOP obstructionism ignored, then blame Dems for filibuster

Media gets filibuster affair backwards: News outlets ignore GOP obstructionism, then blame Dems for filibuster - Josh Marshall has been documenting just how irresponsible the media has been in neglecting to report on GOP filibusters, leading to widespread confusion as to why Congress isn’t passing legislation. Now, once the media finally brings itself to start introducing the word to the public, major news outlets get it backwards: "During the July 17 edition of ABC’s Good Morning America, co-anchor Diane Sawyer falsely claimed that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) 'vows to filibuster, talking all night to close out all topics besides a vote on Iraqi troop withdrawals.' … Additionally, on the July 16 edition of Fox News’ Special Report with Brit Hume, Weekly Standard executive editor Fred Barnes asserted that Reid is 'filibustering his own bill.'” Sawyer has been a professional political correspondent in DC since 1978. Before that, she worked in two Republican White Houses. She must know what a filibuster is.

1. They're all liars.
I don't trust or believe anything any Republican or right-winger says. Ever. That goes for the "liberal" media too. And the "drive-by media", whatever the hell that is.

3. Yes, I've noticed that to...local news talking about Dem filibuster
and not mentioning that it's the repubs that are NOT ALLOWING A VOTE on Iraq withdrawal.

Say it again: repubs are NOT ALLOWING A VOTE on Iraq withdrawal

4. Did you really expect anything else?
The GOP made up their talking points and sent it to thousands of media outlets email accounts. They were on the phone constantly with all the pundits. They got their keyboard warriors to flood the media sites with pro-GOPer comments and pro-GOPer LTTEs. A coordinated attack.

After ten years, the media is conditioned to follow the GOPer line.

5. This Is The LIBERAL Media, Right?
There was a poll floating around here yesterday, about how the public perceives a strong Liberal Media Bias.

More proof that this country is filled with MORONS, and we're headed for a fall.

6. Two unbelievable front page headlines in LA Times this am:
"Pullout Proposal Lacking a Plan B" This refers to Iraq debate and GOP fillibuster, amazingly

and

"US Agencies concur on terror threat" referring to renewed Al Queda strength, and in only the third paragraph the somewhat mysterious statement that Al Queda will leverage its Iraq contacts to attack America at home.

7. Two local news broadcasts on L.A. TV failed to use the term "filibuster".
Last night. KCBS/KCAL news and the Fox affiliate at 10PM-PDT. Nor did they mention Republican obstructionism or even allude to the refusal by Republicans to allow the amendment to proceed to a floor vote.

9. Jesus Christ When The Fuck Will They Wake Up.
They're so beyond pathetic. They, more than anything else in my opinion, are the NUMBER ONE reason why things are the way they are.
