and just now-Boxer: This Senate must not be a rubberstamp for this administration, especially when our constituents are being killed.

Oh Barbara, Barabara, say it.

Democrats start all-night push for change in Iraq
By Thomas Ferraro and Richard Cowan

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - With cots, pillows and pleas for change, the Democratic-led U.S. Senate began a rare around-the-clock session on Tuesday to push President George W. Bush and fellow Republicans to end the Iraq war.

Yet Republicans seemed to have the votes to erect a procedural roadblock to stop a Democratic plan that is backed by a majority of the Senate to withdraw U.S. combat troops by the end of April 2008.

A showdown vote on the plan was expected shortly before noon EDT( 1600 GMT) on Wednesday by weary and sharply divided lawmakers.

"Republicans will need to choose whether they want to protect the president or protect our troops," said Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid of Nevada.

1. Get footage of the filibuster
and use it against every Republican senator who engages in it.

3. Time to put up or shut up!
I hope this gets a lot of MSM coverage, as many people as possible need to see who wants to end the Iraq cluster fu** and who doesn't. I also hope the will embolden the Senate Dem's to start holding the obstructionist RePublics feet to the fire and STOP backing down whenever they (RePukes) throw their little tantrums.

4. SOMETHING TO PREACH

THE DEMOCRATS HAVE MORE REGISTERED VOTERS THAN THE REPUBLICANS- SO COME ELECTION DAY
GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND VOTE! WOULDN'T IT SEND A GREAT MESSAGE IF OVER 70% OF US DEMOCRATS VOTED A STRAIGHT TICKET! SOMETHING I NEVER DONE TILL LAST FALL.
EVERY WHERE YOU GO IF YOU HAVE A REPUBLICAN IN OFFICE BE SURE AN QUOTE HIS VOTING RECORD.
NOTE HOW MANY OF THEM WHO SUPPORTED THIS INCOMPETENT ADMINISTRATION ARE JUMPING SHIP.
GIVE THOSE FLIP FLOPPER'S THE BOOT!

5. Is 24 hours enough?
The MSM can downplay this issue for 24 hours -- to the point many Americans will never even be aware of it.

Why can't Reid do what Bush demands vis-a-vis Iraq: that there be no timetable for this fillibuster -- that it will go on until the Dems get their way (or until enough Americans start paying attention to the fillibuster and start criticizing the Pukes.)

Why limit a fillibuster's duration before even beginning the fillibuster?

6. Actually, it's 30 hours.
And Reid didn't pick that number out of a hat - it has to do with Senate rules.

"Reid will be using the provision of Rule 22 that allows for up to 30 hours of continuous debate once it's made clear -- in this case, by Republicans trying to avoid an up-or-down vote on Reed-Levin -- that there is a desire to continue debating the issue."

7. Excellent! Finally!
They need to use "Bush" and "Congressional Republicans" together at all times. That will light a fire under Congressional Republican asses.
