The line in the sand
We are in it pretty deep friends. Since Bush took office in 2001 the line in the sand has moved thousands of times. We have come so far down the road of what is acceptable that saving the Constitution has become an actual debate. They crossed the line and we drew another. They crossed it again and we drew another, and again, and again. The Bush administration has defied the people, defied the Congress, and defied the Constitution.

The past few weeks things have been ramping up. Sure the sex scandals are fun and hilarious but the shit is really hitting the fan. Cheney is screaming for an attack on Iran. Harriet Meirs defied a Congressional subpoena and has yet to be charged with contempt. If she does get charged and the case goes to the Supreme Court, and they decide in favor of Bush's Executive Privilege they will have drawn a new incredible amount of power to defy the other branches of Government and the will of the American People. All it will take is one serious attack and a call for Martial Law and we'll all be pretty much fucked. They are scared, and they are ramping up the fear factor with their gut instincts, and their threats of blown up shopping malls.

I understand that we barely have a chance of winning, I understand that we don't have the votes, it's a long uphill battle but it is one that must be fought. Are we going to wait for an unprovoked attack on Iran? Start now, once the attack on Iran comes it will be impossible. The line must be drawn, and it must be drawn here. "This is as far as you go... no further". Before it's too late.

Let me recommend this thread so you can see the thought process of a true Republican leader after a devastating attack on U.S. soil. Maybe it will convince you that our leaders are out of their freakin minds and need to go...
Great thread annabananna..

2. Start Impeachment proceedings and get the media
behind us, that is most important. If the media shows mainstream America what Bush is really doing, he'll go down. We get isolated here and assume that your average Joe has all the same information we do. Lot's of people still get all their news from TV, imagine the level of ignorance if you got all your news from TV. We can get the rest of America behind us if we can get the media to do their jobs.

5. I agree that The Media is crucial...

...it is to any movement that wants to get its message across. I stopped wathching MSM on anything other than an occasional basis years ago; opted for self-education through books. I listen to friends and relatives who still feed at the MSM trough and I am well aware that they are not being properly informed.

One problem we face is that the media is owned and content controlled by fewer and fewer hands. We're going to have to convince them that exposing the neocons (and their lapdog, GW) is in their best interests.

How do we shame the individual reporters and their bosses into doing the right thing, ala Walter Cronkite with Vietnam (who required no shaming 'cause he had his head on straight and the gravitas to pull it off)?

I'm asking 'cause I am genuinely interested.
