Why September?
What super-duper-fantastic-nifty-spiffy-tubular-expealidocious event is supposed to take place in September, that bars all discussion about us leaving Iraq NOW?

5. Andy Card says you should always trot out new products in September.
Georgie (and Congress) will be on vacation most of August. Georgie needs the time to come up with a new line of bullshit policy toward Iraq.

8. The strange thing is Petraeus has already made his opinion of the situation clear
as he said the surge will take until at least "next spring".

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/15/world/middleeast/16cnd-commander.html?_r=2&hp=&pagewanted=print&oref=slogin&oref=slogin

It's obvious that Petraeus is Bush's boy. He's going to say whatever the Adminstration wants him to say so Republicans who claim to need to wait until his September speech are full of shit. They already know his evaluation because it came straight from the White House.

12. Peak hurricane season
If anything blows the coasts this year, those National Guard troops will be sorely missed and the resentment of them being stuck in Iraq will continue to grow.

15. Because it will be their chance to celebrate the new national mourning holiday, 9/11
They're not going to reach their benchmarks but the timing will give them a stage. They can look to the site of the former world trade centers and say see,,,we're fightihg them over there so we won't have to over here. As if there's anyone LEFT who actually believes that BS.
