Driving while text-messaging.

Personally I think cars should come with a phone-disabling device that turns all those gizmos off when the engine is running..but then I am a fuddy-duddy.

Hey.. why not just imbed a keyboard into the steering wheel and replace the rear-view mirror with a TV screen..

I will never get over the "need" to talk to/text people 24-7..

Teen Deaths May Lead to Texting-While-Driving Law

In a statement with the heading “Its tm to stp txting w dr”, State Senator Carl Marcellino (R-Syosset) is pushing for passage of Bill S-3195, which would make it illegal to write, send or read text messages on cell phones while driving. The bill has been proposed in the Assembly by Assemblyman Felix Ortiz (D-Brooklyn).

The proposal follows the deaths last week of five girls who had recently graduated together from Fairport High School in Fairport, a suburb of Rochester, New York. The accident occurred in Canandaigua, in the Finger Lakes area of New York State.

2. IMO being on the phone while driving should be outlawed, too. You

just know when someone is chatting away and not paying attention, weaving, driving too slow, etc.

One of our techs was talking on the phone with his mother while driving the shop truck. He wasn't paying attention to his speed nor to traffic. He rear-ended a larger truck, totaling the shop truck--and losing his job.
