Poll question: Have you contributed financially to a Democratic candidate?
Edited on Mon Jul-16-07 06:44 PM by cboy4
And if not, why?

Is it because you don't have the money to spare, or because you have a fundamental problem with turning your hard earned money over to politicians who live a life of luxury you can only dream about.

**For clarification, I'm talking about this election cycle**

** Also, donating to the Democratic Party counts as a "yes."

17. Don't Give Up on Dennis
I think he knew it would pass the House without him, and he didn't want his name on anything less than a full withdrawal. I LIKE to think that in a real vote, where his vote would matter, he'd do the right thing.

I contributed to Kucinich's campaign: the first time I've ever donated to a politician. It was my way of saying, "I'm with you, Dennis...for better or worse."

Truth be told, while I can rationalize it away if I have to, I was disappointed in Dennis, too. :(

Although I have donated to Edwards before the Run, Al Run fervor intensified. If Al definitely isn't in, I'll donate again.

5. I donated to barbara boxer. and 3.33 to kucinich for bill 333.
The fact that she stood up against the ohio 2004 "vote count" was important to me.

I might be open minded to Edwards. He usually takes Kucinich's ideas, if you give him enough time.

I don't like any of the candidates that much -- well, I do like Edwards but don't see him having the kind of strong personal magnetism or whatever you call it to win. He's beautiful (does that count)! I like what he has to say!

16. Ever? Or this election cycle?
I gave what I could afford to Wesley Clark in 2004. This year, I'm not too happy with the choices for president and haven't picked a candidate; therefore, I haven't given to any presidential candidate this cycle.

Also, there is no Dem running against our Republican congressman (wouldn't win anyway - plus our Republican actually voted against the war, so he's not too bad) and a Dem hasn't yet announced to take on Lamar Alexander for Senate: http://news.yahoo.com/s/cq/20070525/pl_cq_politics/alexanderholdsupperhandin08senateraceasdemslookforvolunteer

19. my question, too...

...it's kind of really a shame that the 08 race is so all consuming that many didn't even think twice and assumed it that way.

Yes on ever, and no on the 08 race. Not until Jan 08 will I give.

I donate to no party.

Multi-national corporate PAC's bought Bill Clinton (NAFTA) before they bought Bush (NAFTA/Oil/Arms Traitor). :puke:

33. Not yet
My preference (Al Gore) is not a candidate as of now, so I will
wait to see who comes closest to what I agree with. I did send
money to Howard Dean (i.e. the DNC), as his tireless work on behalf of
Democratic Congressional and Senatorial candidates around the
country is something I consider vital.

35. Only To House & Senate Races
I have no horse in the Presidential American Idol competition and it won't matter here as by the time our primary happens the nomination is long over.

Instead, my money goes locally where it can get more bang for the buck...looking for Progressive candidates for both the House & Senate...helping them get their campaigns off the ground and on a solid footing to win a bigger majority next year. I usually donate to one candidate a month...but lately that has been more like 2 to 3...and I expect this to continue through next year's election.

Last year I donated to the DNC...a thank-you after the election for the work Dr. Dean has done and to further expand his 50-state project. I'll be donating again later this year as well.

I always look at my campaign contributions as an investment in both our democracry and the many candidates that I've felt best represent my values and expectations. Fortunately I have the few extra sheckles to donate...but even when there was more month than money, I found a way to forward something to candidates I believed in.
