Bush wants Mideast peace conference
Now? He wants to try his hand at diplomacy now? Might be too little, too late, especially since no one seems to care for Condi... He shouldn't be surprised if he's ignored-I wouldn't be.

Bush wants Mideast peace conference

By TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer 31 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - President Bush will call for an international conference this fall to include Israel, the Palestinian authority and some of their Arab neighbors to help restart Mideast peace talks and will pledge increased aid to the Palestinian government of President Mahmoud Abbas, The Associated Press has learned.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice would lead the peace conference, which would include representatives of Israel and "neighbors in the region," said a senior administration official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Bush planned to speak Monday afternoon at the White House about the peace conference and U.S. financial and diplomatic support for Abbas, who controls just the West Bank after the Islamic militant group Hamas gained authority over Gaza in June.

Bush will portray this as "a moment of choice" between two paths for the Palestinian people — one represented by the moderate government led by Abbas and his Fatah faction and that of Hamas.

1. Bush will portray this as "a moment of choice" ...
This idiot thinks anyone will trust him even if they're talking to Sleeza? He's more demented than I've given him credit for being.

3. He's on now, setting out conditions and ultimatums for this conference.
He's a joke! He thinks he'll say jump, and they'll say how high? I'm thinking it won't work that way.

7. i almost hit my tv

How does he have the nerve to say that he will throw a few bucks at the Palestinians as soon as they say they want to live "in a democracy without terrorists?"

Is he crazy, under him, we do NOT live in a "democracy without terrorists" because HE is the terrorist here and all over the world.

And HE is going to have Blair and Condi in charge of making such "Peace and Freedom" come to the Middle East.

He must be impeached, let the process begin!

2. Correct.
Everything I have read in overseas papers convinces me that * has little or no standing at all in the region, even Israel is only luke warm. I suspect this is another "Look over here at the shiny objects" moment for US consumption only. (sigh)

6. The time to seek diplomatic solutions is when people think you are strong
not when they know you are weak.
