Larry Flynt outed Vitter
keep up the good work, Larry!

http://rawstory.com/news/2007/ABC_says_they_would_have_reported_0710.html

The magazine Hustler in a Tuesday afternoon press release then claimed responsibility for Vitter's decision to identify himself as a former DC Madam client.

"Within hours of a phone call from the offices of HUSTLER Magazine asking Vitter to comment on an article HUSTLER reporters were working on, Vitter ran to the Associated Press in an attempt to get ahead of the story," said the statement e-mailed to RAW STORY. "As of 2 p.m. West Coast time on Monday, only Larry Flynt and the HUSTLER investigative team knew that Vitter’s phone number appeared on the phone records of Deborah Jeane Palfrey, the so-called D.C. Madam. Within hours of obtaining the phone records, Flynt's team found what ABC News has so far been unable to ferret out."

23. I think Larry Flynt loves his country too.
He's pissed at the GOP for trashing the country just like we are!

A sleazy magazine, is not near as bad as getting GIs killed and wounded by the thousands, for profit, or for political brownie points like the GOP has in Iraq. Larry Flynt is a far better person than a lying, murdering, torturing, thieving, blood sucking, political hypocrite!

48. We do owe a debt to Larry Flynt for investigative journalism
As much as I abhor his magazine for its graphic, offensive, demeaning depiction of women (Personally I would love to see his magazine banned, but feel it is more important that he is allowed to exercise his First Amendment rights), I honor Flynt as a journalist who isn't afraid to tell the unvarnished truth. He is one of the few out there who has a set of brass balls to expose hypocrites for what they are. One thing you can say about Larry Flynt is that he ain't no hypocrite!!! Unfortunately, there are far too few MSM journalists out there with the integrity of Flynt.

25. Well, He Did Take Out That Ad In The Paper!! I Wonder How Many
more will fall?? I have no doubt there are some Democrats too! What I'm about to say isn't meant to be snide, HOWEVER there is that joke about "men" thinking with one head or another, most of the time!!

I might just get deleted for the first time here at DU for making that remark, but it IS true! Even though I remarried my husband 10 years after divorcing him, I left him because he "fooled around" a little bit when we were younger. He was sooooooooo apologetic and I know taken completely by surprise when I filed for divorce because as most say "it didn't mean anything" I LOVE YOU!! He
doesn't drink and was never abusive, but hey... I was a good wife & mother and he was WRONG! He never stayed with the other person, but still, I think we both learned a few lessons by being apart.

I've always been very independent and my instincts told me that if I looked the other way, it would happen AGAIN!! Kind of like putting up with someone hitting you... if it happens once, it more likely than not will happen again, most of the time!

37. Awesome, Chici! You did your kids a favor: You kept him honest.
If our kids see us tolerate immorality and dishonesty in our marriages, they go on to repeat it, and pay the larger price. You scared him straight, and did the whole family a great service: Some people can only learn things the hard way. Now, when your husband gets a hard on at work or out with friends, he's got 10 tough years to remind him that it's not worth it, and you are worth respecting.

Bravo. I'm sure you took holy hell from your family and friends at the time, and stuck to your guns. You proved them all wrong.

What this world needs is more tough broads who know what they're worth.

You made my day.

Three cheers for all tough women who make the hard decisions, in spite of pressure from their "friends" and "family."

45. Thank You Very Much.... Didn't Expect Any Kudos... But I Did What
I felt was correct. And yes, my mother-in-law wouldn't even come into the house I moved into because she thought "I" was the home-wrecker!! She had two sons, and my husband was the younger! Funny thing, his brother ended up fooling around while he was in the Air Force several times. His wife wasn't so tough, but in the end I convinced her that she didn't need to take it either. They didn't get back together, but I'm still good friends with the first wife!

My mother-in-law never forgave her either. What IS strange now is that she now lives with us as she has Alzheimer's and we would NEVER put her in a home. In my heart I know I've done what I felt was best, and I forgave HER. After all she is a mother, and one from the "old school" that didn't understand independent women.

Thanks again!

47. Okay... Now I'm Blushing! NOW If I Could Only Have Some Real Affect
on this outrageous political situation!

I do have to add something about the other issue though, and it's something that does get my goat to some extent. Many women think that they can't do it without a MAN, and that isn't true. But women who get used to having that "good life" stuff, generally won't get off the dime and either look the other way or simply face an empty life.

One thing I've ALWAYS told my kids, and others that I know is this... If you can look in the mirror and like what you see, than for the most part it will be okay. It's NOT easy, but it does build character even if you walk across some hot coals to get there. I can't say I understand why some get an extra dose of "hurt" doled out to them, but I do think that what is thrown at us should be looked upon as a learning process. I may not know WHY a person like my mother-in-law is still alive and seems to be living a life in "limbo" but I think that I'm supposed to be learning something from it.

If you pay attention, no matter how old you get (barring illness) we ALL have something to learn each and every day. I could give you a silly example of something that happened last week, but it's not that important. Had something to do with lime trees, but it proved my point to me.

And perhaps, America is having to go through what we are now because we have put ourselves too high up on a pedestal. The higher up you get, the further you have to fall! I get disgusted and depressed by the process myself and wish more people would pay attention, but then maybe some people need to be hit over the head before they finally understand some of it!

I could go on, but won't... the fact that you are here at DU means that you are aware enough to see and actually care... far too many don't see or GET IT!

As I understand it the 224 prefix is for the Senate.

The Senate numbers are listed here: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm Notice that they all start with the 224- prefix. If you check out the House numbers they all begin with 225-

The date of this call is 12/26/1998 and the call was made at 5:07 p.m. It can be found in the number 10 records on the list located at: http://deborahjeanepalfrey.com/Jeane10c.html
