Another day and another dramatic bomb scare, immediately attributed by American tabloid media as absolute evidence of diabolical forces surrounding the beseiged democracies and threatening their demise at every turn. . .

I hope you don't mind, but a little relief is needed. Back in the much more romantic 1960's...when spy shows on television were not only in vogue but constant reminders of the ultimate triumph of trust, justice, and free humanity, it seemed that everything was still in order in the Queen's Empire (well, perhaps except the value of the pound sterling and the radical sounds of young baby boomer combos with their moptop hair and startling dress). . .:-). Each week for nine years, The Avengers could take on all diabolical threats and with style and charm completely disarm them within an hour. . .

It seems like Britain needs them now.
