Buzzflash's new Media Putz award goes to //drum roll// Chris Matthews!

Chris Matthews

For reporting that is an embarrassment to the profession of journalism, and for being beholden to corporate paymasters rather than the citizens of America.

For our first BuzzFlash Media Putz of the Week, we had so many nominations for Chris Matthews that we had to pick one by lottery. Before we even launched MediaPutz.com, it appears Matthews is already positioned for a lifetime achievement award.

Winning nominator, Marjorie Swanson of Kenosha, Wisconsin, writes of just one Chris Matthews Media Putz moment: "Matthews pretends to hold a serious discussion on environmental issues using noted, and well informed, environmentalist Bobby Kennedy and then counters him with talk show ranter Melanie Morgan. We need honest discussions on the environment so that people know the facts.

"Why use someone like Morgan, who has no expertise on environmental issues including global warming? Matthews should know that a discussion must be comprised of two people who know something about their subject. This discussion contained one expert and one female capable of nothing more than lies, distortions and Conservative Talking Points."

Good point, and why did Matthews have Ann Coulter on just after she wished that a terrorist would kill John Edwards? Because Matthews is running a freak show disguised as a pundit program. Coulter's violent shock statements seemingly boost his ratings, or so he and his producers must think.

1. Matthews is to journalism as an Ent is to Jazzercise
He deserves this dishonor, and to be run out of town by a mob bearing lighted torches. Him and that psycho bitch w/ the adam's apple.

knack for having some strange guests. matthews show is still leaning very right and his new propensity for cutting his guests off before they have had time to complete a sentence makes me think he wants bill o'really's job. i'd rather listen to pat buchanan than chris matthews. however, lately i HAVE liked his sunday guests.

speaking of talking heads, why does armstrong williams have any credibility? and ron christie is just plain annoying with his talking points and outright lies. why doesn't anyone ever call these guys on their lies? it makes me scream at the tube.

melanie morgan is totally puke-worthy.

all that said, i LOVED david shuster's fill-in on tucker's show. tucker is aother total waste.

thanks, i feel better now. :D btw, has colmes been coming around? i thought i (accidentally) overheard him laying some rwer out.
