Independence (from Bush/Cheney) Day

July 4, 1776, was the day our Founding Fathers declared the American Revolution against King George.

So let's celebrate this July 4 by declaring our independence from King George W. and Crown Prince Dick -- with two opportunities for action:

Honk to Impeach!

Our friends at Democrats.com and A28 created a campaign based on http://blog.pdamerica.org/?p=1140#more-1140">an action taken by PDA’s Berkshire County (MA) chapter: http://www.democrats.com/honktoimpeach">HONK TO IMPEACH!

July 4 is a great day to HONK TO IMPEACH because there's already lots of noise from fireworks and people are relaxed. Here's the plan:

1. Check your local community calendar for the fireworks celebration near you, and note the time and main parking locations.
2. Pick an intersection where all the cars will come and go, and find a safe spot. (Please add a marker for your location to the http://www.communitywalk.com/impeach">ImpeachMap.)
3. Bring signs that say HONK TO IMPEACH and Text “IMPEACH” to 30644.* Be creative -- bring American flags and Uncle Sam outfits to capture the July 4th spirit. Try this sign: "BE A PATRIOT: HONK TO IMPEACH CHENEY & BUSH"
4. http://www.impeachspace.com/">Upload your photos/videos, and publish your report. Submit an article to PDA.
5. Keep building our nationwide movement by scheduling a weekly HONK TO IMPEACH" action and post it to the http://www.communitywalk.com/impeach">ImpeachMap.

*Why a sign saying Text “IMPEACH” to 30644? This is a great new way to enlist more impeachment activists, especially younger people who use their cell phones for text messaging. When they text "IMPEACH" to 30644 they’re prompted to enter their e-mail addresses so we can connect them with all the impeachment work we're doing, nationally and locally.

Inauguration of the L.A. Impeachment Center

PDA Board Member Rep. Maxine Waters will inaugurate the Los Angeles Impeachment Center. The ceremony and press conference will be followed by a picnic at La Cienega Park (located at Olympic & La Cienega). Wednesday, July 4th @ 11 am, 8124 W. Third Street (in the Peace Center located at Crescent Heights & 3rd St.), Los Angeles, CA.

To show your support for PDA's July 4th efforts on impeachment and ending the Iraq occupation, please make a https://www.pdamerica.org/donate.php">donation for 7/4 of $74 to PDA. Or if you call it 4th of July, we'll accept $47. Frankly, any sized https://www.pdamerica.org/donate.php">donation to PDA helps!

Yours for independence day,
Tim Carpenter
