EMANUEL-VP Has Choice To Make Or We Will Cut His Funding From Exec Branch
Emanuel Ups the Ante

Sat Jun 23, 2007 at 10:24:57 AM PDT

Washington, D.C. – House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel issued the following statement regarding his amendment to cut funding for the Office of the Vice President from the bill that funds the executive branch. The legislation – the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill -- will be considered on the floor of he House of Representatives next week.

"The Vice President has a choice to make. If he believes his legal case, his office has no business being funded as part of the executive branch. However, if he demands executive branch funding he cannot ignore executive branch rules. At the very least, the Vice President should be consistent. This amendment will ensure that the Vice President's funding is consistent with his legal arguments. I have worked closely with my colleagues on this amendment and will continue to pursue this measure in the coming days."

1. Now THIS is a great response. Cut off his funding. Regardless. He's
a renegade criminal murderous lying bastard. For me, that would be enough.

13. full of sound and fury signifying nothing
I am tired of theatrics, but I think this is a good idea, remind him that congress holds the purse strings and has oversight
powers over the executive branch, this should have been done years ago.

and the POTUS are BOTH exempt?

I know, it's hard to keep up.

7. Sounds fair to me. In fact, it sounds a little too weak. I would have the SOB
brought up on charges insubordination and conspiring to undermine the constitution of the United States.

He'd better move the fuck out of the Naval Observatory home that the EXECUTIVE BRANCH usurped from the Department of the Navy, too!!!!!!

Get thee behind me, Satan!!!!!

10. Also, send Dick Cheney an invoice for all past VP funds retroactive
...to when he assumed the position of VP in 2001. That should work out to be thirty or forty million dollars I would think.

16. Yeah, take it out of his Halliburton profits.
But it's much more than 30-40 million, especially if you cost out the damage he's done.

17. In any event, the senate should vote him out as President of the Senate
It doesn't require impeachment, and it only requires a 2/3 vote of senators present. Seems like a great activity for some middle of the night before a long weekend of back in the state fund-raising.

The R's love to screw with the rules. It's time to hose them with their own medicine.

26. I don't think they can do that
President of the Senate is a contitutional role of the VP - the senators can't just vote that away.

19. I've become WAY too cynical to believe anything will come of this
Until Cheney is in handcuffs, I consider this to be just another Dem pissing in the wind. He will be completely ignored, and this amendment will disappear.

I sincerely hope I am proven wrong- when something comes of this I will retract and apologize. Until then, I am not impressed.
