Rove biggest user of back-channel e-mails, panel says
He sent more than 140,000 through the GOP's computer system

By RON HUTCHESON
McClatchy-Tribune

WASHINGTON — Presidential adviser Karl Rove sent more than 140,000 e-mails through the Republican National Committee's computer system, circumventing a federal law intended to guarantee the preservation of presidential records, House of Representatives investigators have concluded.

While 88 White House aides used the back-channel system, Rove was its biggest user at the White House, and more than half of his communications dealt with official business, according to a report by the House Oversight Committee.

The White House initially had said that about 50 presidential aides used the Republican Party e-mail system to avoid sending political messages improperly through the White House system.

1. If they want him...
They got him. Violation of at least two federal laws right there, and Buddha knows how many more.

2. What is so maddening is snow
saying CLINTON DID IT TOO. When it was published on several sites that President Clinton PUT OUT A MEMO telling everyone that they must use the whitehouse email service and the emails had to be perserved.

It is a shame that they bunch of jellyfish that people the so called press conference won't call snow the liar he is.

3. No, what is maddening is the dems in house and the senate,
the dem leadership that remains silent.

How many crimes do we have them guilty of, how many violations of the law and the constitution they all took an oath to uphold?

This is ridiculous, how much longer will they be allowed to pervert the system and disobey the laws?

:argh:

4. Thank you McClatchy Newspapers and affiliates. You are one of the few news sources
that can consider yourselves, "journalists".

5. The whole political scene
is surreal to me. Abuse after abuse are written about, the Chimp administration ignores law after law, out in the open, and all we can seem to do is to chronicle the abuses. Nothing happens. In the real world, this would be like saying that John Doe is videotaped killing his wife, what a shame, what a crime...then the whole issue being dropped.

A few weeks later, John Doe kills again. Again, politicians wring their hands over Doe's illegal behavior, but arresting him, and trying him, is "off the table." So John Doe keeps killing, and the law keeps wringing their hands, but nobody actually ENFORCES the laws that this man has broken.

That's the reality we face today. Bush has broken treaties, laws, and the Constitution, and except for a few brave souls speaking out about the egregious abuses of power, nothing actually gets done to correct his law-breaking. What has happened, to our once great country, that a man of such limited intelligence, and such corrupt intentions, can violate the rule of law without worrying about paying the consequences?

They're equally guilty.
