The Judge could not have been more clear about why Paris had to go back to jail.
Every teenager in America is watching to see whether Paris Hilton gets to stay home and eat pizza and drink beer with a gizmo on her leg. If she is allowed to do so, who is to take drunk driving laws seriously. The judge understands what is at stake here. What is wrong with the sheriff? Did Paris make such a pest of herself in jail that the County wanted to get rid of her? That is what I suspect.
She should serve her time. She treated the lenient sentence she originally had like a joke.
I can, however, think of an alternative: 30 days CalTrans -- i.e., picking up trash in the hot sun on the California freeways for 30 days with the other homeys. I know of a tiny little woman with five small children who was sentenced to CalTrans service for a shoplifting a few dollars worth of junk. Sorry, I have no pity for Paris. Drinking and driving is a serious offense compared to shoplifting at some discount store. And 45 days in jail is bad news, but she had a chance to virtually get off free and she wasted it.
I've seen a judge order a woman to CalTrans -- and deny the alternative of less difficult community service. Paris should take the 45 days in jail. She will get out early, but not quite yet.
