Poll: Same Number Know About Edwards' $400 Haircut That Know Saddam Didn't Have WMDs
Poll: Same Number Know About Edwards' $400 Haircut That Know Saddam Didn't Have WMDs
By Greg Sargent

Here's some cheery news for a Friday. Buried in the new Fox News poll is a startling number that doesn't reflect terribly well on the priorities of our political media:

From the new Fox poll of registered voters:

32. Do you happen to know which presidential candidate has been in the news recently for paying four hundred dollars for a haircut?

Edwards 44%
Hillary 2%
Obama 1%
Other 1%
Don't know 53%

So astonishingly, nearly half of respondents knew about Edwards' haircut and were able to volunteer his name off the top of their heads, as it were.

............

So just for the fun of it, we went and dug up the most recent poll we could find on the question of whether people know that Saddam didn't have WMDs.

From a Harris Interactive poll on July 21, 2006:

Iraq had weapons of mass destruction when the U.S. invaded.

True 50%
Not True 45%

1. And that's the 50% that catch a bit of news between running
their kids all over town, working overtime or their second job, and entertaining the children with toons while making dinner.

Beleive me, when I am off and my step-son is at our house, I don't get any news in me. I'm lucky if I can catch a 1/2 hour of Olbermann before brushing teeth and reading bedtime stories. Ask my husband those questions... he doesn't know and doesn't care. He says that I know enough, just tell him who the good guy is at voting time.

2. Thanks Kpete. And everyone knows where Paris is today, few people know where George Bush is
I would also venture a guess, if you took a random query on the street corner. More people could name the celebrity who was remanded to jail today, then could name of the Vice President of the United States.

3. In view of the continuing occupation and a core of public support
for it,albeit shrinking, it is a complete abdication of their nominal responsibility that polling firms continue to NOT ask these very relevant questions of those who still support the invasion and Bush:

Do you believe Saddam Hussein was responsible for the 9/11 attacks?

Do you believe that Iraq possessed WMD at the time of the US invasion of that country?

It's my guess that a healthy majority of those still supporting Bush and the continuing occupation will answer "YES" to both these questions. But I don't really know, do I?

BECAUSE NOBODY ASKS THE QUESTIONS!!!!
