Another well deserved award to a man who is finally living his destiny. These accolades have come as a result of him truly setting his heart on his passion. You can have nothing but success when your heart is true and your cause is noble. Congratulations!:loveya:

MADRID (AFP) - Former US vice president Al Gore has won Spain's prestigious Prince of Asturias award for International Cooperation for his efforts to combat climate change, organizers said Wednesday.

In a statement, the Prince of Asturias prize organizers said Gore is "one of the most influential leaders in the world in the fight against climate change."

"He has focused his public activity on promoting an awareness of humanity's responsibility for global warming and the urgent need to adopt measures that will mitigate its consequences," the statement added.

The Prince of Asturias Foundation gives out eight awards annually for outstanding contributions to areas ranging from the arts and science to sports and international cooperation.

The prizes are named for Prince Felipe, heir to the Spanish throne and each carry a cash prize of 50,000 euros (67,500 US dollars) and a sculpture by Catalan artist Joan Miro.

They are presented each fall in Oviedo, the capital of the northern region of Asturias.

12. I haven't a clue what that "prize" is but,...the man has earned my respect and,...
,...admiration.

He IS a 'prize' in his own right.

I am reading his book, "THE Assault on Reason" and I KNOW his sincerity in attacking the ABSOLUTE oppression of our/all people's freedom TO BE A DEMOCRATIC INSTITUTION.

Al Gore is a pioneer at a time when the experiment of democracy is being torn apart by greedy assholes.

Peace.

I don't care if Sir Gore decides to run or not, he is out making a difference. I kinda hope he decides not to run.

Gore won the Prince of Asturias award for international cooperation, considered by some to be a warm-up for the Nobel Prizes, for which Gore is nominated this year in the peace category.

Former U.S. vice president and global-warming crusader Al Gore won Spain's most prestigious prize Wednesday for his work in defense of the environment, the latest feather in the cap of the politician-turned-activist.

Gore won the Prince of Asturias award for international cooperation, considered by some to be a warm-up for the Nobel Prizes, for which Gore is nominated this year in the peace category.

The jury meeting in the northern city of Oviedo said it was honoring Gore for his "decisive contribution to progress in solving the grave problems of climate change which threaten our planet.''

It called Gore "a public man who, with his leadership, has contributed to making societies and governments around the world aware of this noble and transcendental cause.''

The prize is named after Spain's Crown Prince Felipe and is one of eight given out annually in categories ranging from arts to sports. Gore won an Oscar this year for "An Inconvenient Truth," his documentary film about global warming, and in October he will learn if he has won the Nobel peace prize.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I believe winning this prize and perhaps the Nobel will solidify his role as the leading environmental activist for our planet.
