Well, the politics of fear remains alive and well in the Republican Party.
Grasp as they could for the mythic Reagan mantle, pandering to the fear-based base won the day. What a surprise.

2. I'm convinced that the "conservative" philosophy as espoused by
these Republicans is 100% fear-based. Fear makes people stupid and malleable; that's why they do what they can to whip people into a frenzy of dread. It suppresses reason. The last thing these thugs want people to do is think.

Then go back to Nixon: fear commies, the sugar shortage, the gas shortage, the wheat shortage,

Now bush: fear the tomato shortage, the gas shortage, the bumble bee shortage, fear the terrorists, fear the terrorists.....TB too.
