San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's re-election campaign manager resigned Wednesday after confronting the mayor about an affair Newsom had with his wife while she worked in the mayor's office, City Hall sources said.

is his overuse of serious hair product. I have had the chance to be up close and personal with him on more than a few ocassions and, I am telling you, you could set off a mini-bunkerbuster on his head and his hair wouldn't move one millimeter!

He is a very handsome guy, but he is as slick as owl shit (as my grandma used to say) and I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

The model hubby was in his 20s when they hooked up, and she was 5 months pregnant when they got married. So, she was pregnant by the new guy when she was still technically married to Newsome.

All of this is irrelevant and gossipy, but I remember feeling a bit bad for Newsome when I heard of all this. A Democratic hottie like him deserves better.

Probably being involved in the Guilfoyle soap opera screwed with his better judgment and he fell to the temptation of close comfort.

Ah well...he did the right thing by getting this out in the open quickly and I'm sure it will pass more quickly because of it.

but I do think he has finally turned 30 or so.

I have a friend in the NYC Textile PR biz (who has friends in the CA PR biz), so I know more about this than I can be proud of - ha, ha.

Anyway, the rich, young, model hubby is nice enough, but a serious intellectual lightweight. He's described as a pretty boy, trust fund baby, kinda dumb, but nice. He used to model for Calvin Klein and Ambercrombie, now works for his grandpa's furniture store (which is very big in NYC).

On the other coast, the peeps there said that Gavin was seriously humiliated in the whole experience, starting with his new wife packing her bags and leaving him for a big job in NYC less than 2 yrs into the marriage. Then she hooked up with a barely post-adolescent and decides to have a baby w/him before she divorces Gavin. Kimberly and her new boy had no qualms about having this all laid bare in the papers. Reportedly, it was very painful for Gavin, and the marriage was a big personal disappointment for him.

Anyway, that's the background as to the demise of the Guilfolye-Newsome marriage. I can't help but surmise that has played into some of his less than stellar love life decisions since then. Apparently he hasn't been too successful in love, both w/the marriage and since then.

I think a good Dem with smoking hot looks could and should do better than what's happened with him.
