You couldn't prove that by the ration of shit I took when we moved back to CA from TN when I was in the 6th grade. I sounded pretty much like Gomer Pyle and I was called okie, hillbilly and worse by the kids in my school. I guess it worked - by the time I graduated HS I had a generic CA accent which I've retained to this day.
