Been thinking about it.. and we need to stay here and work..
Those who are trying to do the "I told you so", or blast any move the Democrats or the President make... are happy as pigs in mud right now.

But right now is when we need the information the most, to lobby our people and get things done, and this is a pretty good venue..http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=433x52603

In a year they will be singing a different tune.. "they were supportive all along, just holding their 'feet' to the fire.."

1. Peacetrain, that's a great OP you did in GDP.
I especially like your response to the folks who automatically jumped in with their negative pronouncements: "Get the specifics so we can look at them and know what to work on." I see one of the people responded that he/she would do that. There are far too many people on DU these days who like to make "drive by" negative remarks without backing something up, and then will turn around and accuse the person asking for specifics of being an Obamabot or something. Wanting specifics is not something to be scorned; I always thought it was one of the hallmarks of DU, that people could make a claim and then back it up with facts. Sometimes the person making the claim turned out to be wrong; sometimes they turned out to be right, but at least they presented something that they believed backed up their argument.

I'll keep an eye on your thread to see what other responses you get.

4. I was wondering if anyone would return with more info....

as Peacetrain so respectfully requested.

I see they didn't.

'Nuf said.

Thanks, Peacetrain, for trying to keep an honest discussion going and offering rational ways of approaching these issues as informed citizens.

Much appreciated. :)

2. I've been thinking the
same and would love it if it comes to be.

A member was asking yesterday if there could be a forum for only those who support the Prez and I told him about this place.:)

3. Right you are. And when any of us feel beaten up, we've got a little sanctuary here.
And anyone who wants to PM me is welcome to.

5. Is this a safe place to ask questions?

I know...it's lame to even ASK that question. :(

But I do have questions about some things and would like input from some of you to help me wrap my brain around the bigger picture, but I know if I post in GD or GDP, it will be an invitation for the "venom and vitriol" posts. I'm sure I'd get some good information -- the type I'm seeking -- but it's too easy for such OPs to get lost in the maelstrom.

I'd like to ask for your opinions about two issues:

1. This whole drug re-importation issue. I don't get this one. I know, I'm dense, but I just don't understand the elements involved with this and lean toward thinking it's a really bad thing.

2. Continuing to keep Geithner, et al on board when they were involved with the root cause of the economic demise. So many people resent them, I don't understand why they aren't replaced, if only as a show of support for public opinion?

It's too easy for me to lose sight of facts as I try to sort through the various fora here, as so much opinion is interjected and chaos ensues.

I realize that may be all we have at this point -- our opinions, based on limited facts -- but I would appreciate your thoughts about those two issues, as well as any facts you may have about them.

I don't think any of us expect to agree with Obama on everything -- nor support every decision -- but when our respect and/or trust in him as an individual wanes, that is disconcerting. He still has my respect and trust, but there are some things simply not adding up to me.

As most of us have often said, we are going with that respect and trust, based on the reasons we voted for him, recognizing that we don't have all the facts and are having faith that, in the big scheme, the positives are outweighing the negatives as far as Obama's decisions thus far. And recognizing that he's not a dictator.

I don't see anything as black or white. It's all very confusing and gray to me.

Thanks in advance. :)

6. Fuck GD and GDP.
I'm staying here from now on. I can't work with people who hate all politicians in general.
