Grrrrrrr!!!!! 5 minutes in GD and I can't take it anymore!
There are SO MANY PEOPLE who are convinced they could do a better job than Obama.

Who are convinced that we could get out of Afghanistan and Iraq RIGHT FUCKING NOW (and yes, I said could, not should) by just packing our bags and catching the next flight out.

Who think that he is EXACTLY like Bush.

Who KNOW that everything he said in his campaign was just lies lies lies.

And who are CONVINCED that just because everybody on the planet doesn't run around screaming and pulling their hair out like they, then they are far superior to the non-screamers.

:banghead: :banghead:

Okay, taking a deep breath........

:)

2. Seattle I had to come in here too.. came home from work..
Came in here.. and could not believe my eyes.. I went over and looked at FR.. and there are more threads here attacking the President than there.

And no one has heard the speech yet.

If I go in there, I am going to lose my temper and that does no one any good.

5. That doesn't surprise me.
It disappoints me, though.

And like you, I need to stay away from there, because after reading some of the posts (and even just some of the post titles), I could feel my blood pressure going up, along with my temper.

GDP..it's more sane.

I never see you there and we could always use some more rational thought.

But, this place is great to come into and kick back..have some :donut: minus the donut in my case.:)

11. Too many "hate baiters" in GD right now.
I doubt they even believe all the shit they spew. They do it for the attention, because they know they'll get a reaction.
What disgusts me most are all the recs the shit gets. Why are these people here if they hate the Democratic President and the Democratic party?

16. I didn't even check in there, because the forum is so predictable.
Maybe I'm a loyal Democrat, and that's the problem? I swear, it's almost as if I have absolutely nothing in common with the activist base. While I don't expect everyone to be in 100% agreement with the president at all times, because I'm not either. But, the over-the-top vitriol expressed by the keyboard vigilantes is far too much.

25. Hi Everyone! For some reason,
I just discovered this group!

First, I am not a supporter of the Afghan decision but I cannot stand the vitriol so easily spewed at the President in some quarters. It is nauseating. I want meaningful discussion and some respect shown to the Pres.

I hope to find some refuge here!

34. Glad you found this group!
I'm a supporter of the Afghan decision, but there is no room for discussion with anyone who hurls the kind of hateful muck I've seen so much of on DU. Can't even read a thread about the White House Christmas tree without ugly posts!

I respect anyone who acts like an adult, even if we disagree on policy. Especially if we disagree.

Cheers!

Comment 1

"Obama did not get “rolled.” He made a very tricky and difficult decision, and I have never seen one person here whose ability or judgment I would rate as being superior to his, and that includes mine, and yours, John Cole. Not one, not even for one day.

This decision is not about hippies, or Vietnam, or weak Democrats, or any of that other bullshit. It’s about the realities of the situation in Afghanistan, and whether I agree with the exact assessment profferred by the president last night (and I don’t know whether I do or not) I certainly would not consider for a second that I have enough information or enough good advice from other people who do have enough information to overrule Obama’s decision.

Here’s the bottom line for me. The war in Afghanistan was voted for by all but one member of Congress, between the two houses, back in 2001. Most people supported it. I am pretty sure John Cole did. I know I did. I didn’t know anyone who didn’t.

So, we made a bad call back then, as a country. The whole country, not a defective few. Basically, almost all of us. We didn’t forsee the mess we are in there now. We were blinded by anger over 911 and wanted to go do something, and that is what we chose to do."

39. They are getting ridiculous with their nitpicking
this notion that Obama was wrong to say we never attacked a democracy - by citing a bunch of CIA ops and I guess asserting they count as "war." This has no other purpose than just slamming the President. They know damn well what he meant.

arrogance doesn't make one smart.
