I am beyond disgusted with Hillary's comments today (assassination)
I'm sickened by the folks in GDP suggesting what I am feeling is fake outrage. Keith Olbermann's special commentary tonight brought me to tears. He was able to articulate exactly what I believe to be true. It is absolutely unforgiveable to even make reference to an assassination of a presidential candidate, given historical context, as a reason to remain in the presidential race.

To the mods and admins, I plead with you to get this under control in GDP. The emotions are very real. Allowing those to flame others with these real emotions is wrong. Wrong! Any peacemaking that has occurred over the past week or two is quickly going out the window.

I am reminded of Skinner's post after Obama's "bitter" comment, saying that the backlash against him for those comments had legs. That was fine, and he was right, but if the backlash against Obama's comments had legs then, the backlash against Clinton's comments today definitely has legs now.

When asked to clarify her comment on the Bobby Kennedy assassination as a reason to stay in the race today, Senator Clinton said, "Well I don't want to attribute motives or strategies to people." That reply is equivalent to "As far as I know," but with underlying tones of a possible life-threatening doom for Obama's candidacy. It is obvious that this has been her mindset for quite some time.

I am appalled, sickened and utterly shocked by Senator Clinton's display today.

1. I am more than sickened ...
I'm chilled. Terry McAuliffe has made similar comments recently that have been picked up and discussed on the Stephanie Miller Show.

This comment following campaigning in West Virginia and Kentucky that has pandered to the fears and racism of the least educated white people has left me beyond sickened. And she didn't even apologize to Obama for what she said.

This is more than creepy. :scared:

2. Sickened is the word
I had figured that Clinton would eventually be worn down to the point that she'd say something stupid enough to totally pooch her campaign, but I cynically assumed that when that happened I'd just get a pleasant little flush of schadenfreude. This has not been the case. Since this story broke at midday, I've felt nauseated and angry.

3. I agree with every word you're saying
It's really beyond the pale. Every time I think we've seen the worst it gets worse yet.

To think that she'd actually say something so reckless and dangerous. Stupid and wrong, saying a word like that. It must be part of "Politics 101" to learn not to say such words out loud. Shocking, really, that she could be that careless.

And the usual sycophants at DU tie themselves in knots justifying it, when it's obvious that she herself knows she made a big mistake.

4. Here's what McAuliffe said earlier this month
MR. McAULIFFE: Nothing's impossible. Look, tomorrow--something new could happen. Nothing's impossible. You are talking to Terry McAuliffe. I don't believe anything in life is impossible.

MR. RUSSERT: But you would need an act of God or for something catastrophic to happen to the Obama campaign.

MR. McAULIFFE: Sure, something big would have to happen, I will give you that, absolutely.
