I am feeling depressed about the way the Clinton campaign has behaved.
I obviously am no Hillary fan, but I always said I would vote for the nominee no matter what. But, damn -- she has absorbed all of the tactics of the Bush '04 campaign, and is now USING them. This is NOT what the Democratic party is about. It is disgusting. It goes beyond my support for Obama, which is strong.

I am getting to the point that if she gets the nomination, I will be almost as depressed as when Bush won in '04. She doesn't represent my values. How one campaigns is a glimpse to how one governs. Once again, that depresses me.

I hope that hope can trump fear and smears.

1. The NV law suit is awful
I wonder if there are any lines that that campaign won't cross.

2. I have deja vu from 2003-4
Seeing Clinton distort Obama's record on Iraq reminds me so much of another campaign's use of similar tactics against Kerry .

In defending Kerry we had the problem that Kerry made the mistake of voting for the IWR despite also expressing strong opposition to the war. I thought that with Obama we would no longer have such problems as Obama spoke out against the war before it started and does not have the IWR vote on his record. Now we have Clinton comparing apples and oranges (initial position on the war with funding measures once the war was underway). What sense does it make for Clinton to attack Obama for voting the same way she did???

Plus there's all the other nonsense attacks, such as on mandates, his kindergarten paper, and the subtle racial attacks.

4. the thing that is really turning me off
are the posts from people accusing Obama of playing the race card. and there is at least one poster who keeps bragging about how the white racists are not supporting Obama.

i will never ssee some of these people as being on my side. i feel the same way i do when i see the racist shit on freepers site. actually, it's worse here because these are people who claim to be in my party.

5. A couple are pure disruptors
There are people posting who I haven't seen on a regular basis since 2004. There's another who is just an ass and had a scary tv show in the 60's. There's some jack-ass who is always posting racist stuff and has said he thinks a racial divide will help Edwards, but I think he's just a pure disrupter. So I hope you don't take all of them personally because I don't think a lot of them are.

6. Thanks for the words of encouragement
Cause I am sick of the term "fighter" or "who can fight the repukes better" being thrown around here (except when talking about Obama of course).

7. I am feeling the same as you.
It feels as if she wins, it will for the most part, be a continuation of what we have endured for the last 7 years.
Obfuscation, secrecy, focus group tested policies and whatever it takes to stay in control and get re-elected.

8. I hear ya, beachmom.
I'm to the point where I'm starting to question whether they deserved my loyal support all these years. To say I'm disgusted is an understatement.

And as far as her supporters here go, my ignore list is growing daily. It's not all of them. Only those that come across as poo-flinging robots.

9. It is so many things - disgusting, divisive, and, yes, depressing.
A reporter asked Obama what he thought about the Clinton attacks, and he answered, "It's depressing." I can see it in his face.

I only hope, as you do, that Americans call upon their better nature in all this.

Cheers.

12. Hang in there.
Unfortunately, the only way this type of scorched earth, destroy anyone in our way politics is going to go away is when people fight it. That's both ironic and true.

It is depressing. You need friends to get through this. I think people who support Senator Obama want to see the country move forward on the issues that matter, not get stuck in the mud in a battle over things that don't really matter. The Obama campaign is about bringing people together to work for common goals. It is especially hard for people who do believe that divisive politics is destroying the country to have to put up with the smears and such.

But this is how it is now. You have to fight through it to get to where you want to be. I don't think Senator Obama's campaign wanted this negative fight. But here it is. So, they will do their best to wage it with honor and integrity.

After all, that is his message for America, when you come right down to it. We get more done when we work together than when we let ourselves be divided. That is a powerful message.

I suppose the silver lining is that if Barack can beat what is generously referred to as the Clinton Machine, he's definitely ready for prime time!

that BC is coming to my state (TN) to an Black college on Monday to try and serenade the AA community and AA vote, and unfortunately, I know there will probably be the ones who will fall for their spell.

It's a shame because I liked him. :(

17. I don't know I will be able to attend because of a
prior commitment.

I am supposed to have family company over around the same time of this event (6:00 pm local time), but I will check out the coverage and the website to see if they have any podcasts of his visit. Although, I am hopeful that my college friend (if he is here) can attend to see what vibe was like.

Actually, it's not surprising because the president of the university used to work in the 1st Clinton Administration.

18. Your last sentence....
I hope you are right, but I am not optimistic. And yes, depressed too. After all the dirt we were forced to wallow in, I so wish for something cleaner, something inspiring, for something that can give me and millions others, well... hope. I watched the Atlanta speech this afternoon, beautiful. And when they got to "we shall overcome" at the end, I got all teary eyed . This white middle-aged woman yearns for that, and is sick to the stomach of dirty and petty political machinations.

19. They're still at it
Obama has criticized them for some of the distortions. They have their response at their "Fact Hub" which repeats the same lies:

How Orwellian. A "Fact Hub" to repeat the same lies over and over and claim they are facts

I just can't understand how Hillary supporters don't see these disgusting tactics. Or maybe they do and just don't care. Willing to lie, spin, whatever it takes. And the hateful look on her face could have curdled milk tonight.

23. I still am
And what is scary is that if she does win, everyone will brag on how there will be nothing left to throw at her (and Bill) and that she will "fight" the smears and GOP alot better than her predecessors did and she won't have or take Shrum's or other campaign losers advice.

It's nauseating. :puke: :scared:
