Obama won't be running against Chickenhawk Bush...he will be running against an actual military Hero...

This ad will become very familiar to voters...as will the video of him signaling torture from his North Vietnamese prison cell

Meanwhile, the MSM, having turned on Obama after he secures the nomination...will play film of Tony Rezko walking into Federal Court over and over again...

At this point, though, I'm not convinced HC will do any better. Frankly, I think we are looking at a McC. presidency regardless.

32. sad to say
i've come to the same conclusion....hillary can't imo win the nomination....just too many people seem to hate her....but obama will be canon fodder.....it sucks to be this jaded...but for the last 16 years i've seen nothing issues get blown out of all proportion....no real reason to think that's changed....and now i'm forced to watch the democratic party morph into gop lite for the sake of saying we won.....oh well there's always 2012 i guess

4. and they will do the same thing for Clinton also. The truth is THIS
Whether it is Obama or Clinton, the repukes are in MAJOR TROUBLE

mccain represents an extension of the current administration

There is a REASON the Democratic turnout is SOOOOO MUCH greater than the republican

Not only are cross over votes occurring, but people are sick and tired of what we have been put through

Whoever are nominee is, WE WILL WIN

Sorry to disappoint you, but this is much greater than partisan politics, people's personal lives have been screwed up, and they do not want anymore of the republicans

26. Elmer should have the good sense to sit down and shut up
We all had to sit through months of the chest-thumping polls results, day after day, and we both know that only the most petulant of Obama's supporters were going to remind him of that. All he had to do was show a molecule of class.

But here he comes, posting this pouty bullshit to rip up the presumptive nominee. Sorry, he's gotten all the slack he's gonna get.

24. Scorched Earth?
If our candidates have weaknesses we had better know now. We don't want buyer's remorse after we pick when we find out something we didn't know before. Kind of like 2004. People jumped on the Kerry bandwagon because JK had military experience. Most people didn't find out about his anti-war protests until after he secured the nomination.

Frankly, all I have heard from the HC campaign is legitimate criticism. The real character assassination is still a few months off.

30. You really believe that the Clinton machine has somehow overlooked something?
Hillary emptied the arsenal against Obama and got nothing in return. It's time for her -- and her supporters -- to suck it up and get behind the presumptive nominee.

And if you can't do that, at least find a reason that people should VOTE FOR your candidate, as opposed to flinging mud and pushing for anti-democratic shenanigans.

38. Well she could have said that as a "half-Muslim" named "Hussein" ...
Edited on Wed Feb-20-08 01:00 PM by Deep13
...there is no way he can get elected.

She could have pointed out that he has almost nothing in common with the descendants of slaves who are supporting him.

Don't you accuse me of being undemocratic! I don't work for the HC camapign or anyone else. I didn't pick sides until it was clear we were down to two candidates, neither of which has much of a chance in November. Frankly, the character assasignation of HC on this board by O supporters has precluded me from ever throwing my hat into the O camp. After 3/4, I am taking down the avatar and washing my hands of national politics. I've already done that to some degree. I'm not volunteering like I did in 2004 and I gave only a few hundred bucks, not the thousands I gave in 2004 and 2006. I just don't believe in Obama. His charisma and really short resume rub me the wrong way. And I can't stand his fans.

This thread is about why O supposedly can't win. It has nothing to do with HC except people keep mentioning her. I prefer her because I think she will be a better manager than O. That is what presidents do. I'm sick of this personality cult that included JFK, Reagan and Bush Jr. to some degree and now Obama. The president is just the head manager. He should never be an object of inspiration or adoration. This is a republic and we don't need that kind of a leader. I think HC will end the war without chaos. And frankly, NAFTA is a good thing. I think being pro-illegal immigrant but anti-NAFTA is hypocritical, especially since the few jobs that went to Mexico (as opposed to the flood of them going to China) were leaving anyway. And she is well enough connected (some might say she knows where the bodies are buried) to get her agenda through Congress. Plus she and Bill raised a lot of money for Ohio Dems. in 2006 including my friend, Sherrod Brown. Lastly, HC did not appear on the hate-mongering 700 Club or announce at the 2004 DNC that "our" god is an awesome god. What a load of crap! So that's why of the two empty suits left, I prefer HC.

50. Every Republican 527 that runs this autumn is going to say...
..."Barack Hussein Obama." It will stick to some degree. People will always act on their fears even if it is at the expense of their self-interest. We saw that in 1964, 1972, 1984, and 2004.

One reason the right was so annoyed by Kerry was because he essentially said that same thing in the 1970s when protesting the Vietnam War.

19. Where you see defeat, I see opportunity.
Obama still has the power to play up the military service and ask Americans if that is what we want. Does America really want a Military Dictatorship? The Bush admin has made it very easy for the President to implement Martial law. Obama should play this up to the hilt if he gets the nod.

We need 13 million independent vote and not one Republican. THEY need 30 million independents.

We've had twice their turnout in the primaries and caucuses.

The Democrat will win. If we count the votes.

29. McCain's story of personal sacrifice is powerful. But his time has passed.
I think McCain's story of service and sacrifice is one that transcends party politics. In many ways, I think it's sad that the Republicans nominated him, because he is one of the few Republican Senators with the inner direction to buck the party machine and reach across the aisle. He's a conservative through and through, but one even liberals like Ted Kennedy can work with from time to time.

Having said that, McCain embodies the past. We can honor his service while choosing a new direction for the country. And frankly, I think McCain's war-soaked past just reminds the country of how much we long for peace again, how much we long for the soldiers to come home. In that respect, I think McCain helps this country move beyond war.

Why did McCain sell out to the Communists in the Viet Nam war?
Why do fellow POWs say McCain was a coward and a traitor in Viet Nam?
Why was McCain opposed to the Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs?
McCain-Feingold?
McCain-Kennedy?
