Response to Hillarys negative, cynical, bitter response about how meaningless words are.

4. He's right.
As for blah, blah, blah...that's what it is from all the candidates until they are in office. I guess it's whichever blah, blah, blah inspires voters to go to the polls and pull the lever for a Dem candidate that really matters.

5. Words do inspire, but well done always trumps well said.

6. He's absolutely right.
Words can and do inspire, elevate, and motivate.

Why else do we remember the great speeches in our history?
How else do we best remember the great leaders in our history?

In Barack Obama we have an honest and decent man, who is on our side --
a man with a brilliant mind...
the proven ability to organize people and effect real change...
the oratorical skill to put into words what we want, need, and are feeling...
and the charismatic power to draw us all together and focus our energies into action.

Words can heal or hurt.
Words can create hope or crush it.
Words can inspire and motivate people to real action -- or turn them into cowering, craven slaves of fear.

A leader who knows how to use words effectively has immense power.

We need that leader right now, who can help us heal, hope, and act again.

GObama!

8. Why?
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 06:45 PM by 1corona4u
because you cling hopelessly to the wrong things? I much prefer action than words. But, since people are getting easier to amuse, people buy the hype.

This country is about to make a huge mistake. I won't be a part of it. 56 million people got it wrong with Bush, and now the democrats are about to make the same mistake.

9. Can you flesh that out a little?
"cling hopelessly to the wrong things" -- such as?

"about to make a huge mistake" - how so?

You'll have to do a lot better than that.

10. I don't have to do jack shit.
I'll just leave you hanging. You'll figure it out. In about 4 years.

11. As I thought.
An empty wind bag with nothing constructive at all to say.

Buh-bye.

14. No, you don't have to do "jack shit", but it would be nice if you did
add some substance to your post. Obviously you don't like Obama - I do. I've studied him carefully. Unless you're an actual psychic, and a damn good one, you have no idea what will happen in the next "about 4 years". Nor does anyone - anyone's choice is, as Bill Clinton said, a "roll of the dice", but I'd rather roll the dice with Obama than any of the others, now that Biden is no longer in the race.

15. I've stated ad nauseam why I don't like him...
do some searches. By the way, past performance is usually a good indicator of future performance. Don't have to be a psychic to know that.

I'm not 'rolling the dice' at all.

16. Well I don't really follow you around, so I don't know,
nor do I want to bother to search. I'll take his past performance over the other two leading contenders any day, and by past, I mean past 20 years or so.

"usually a good indicator" - yes, I agree, but people change sometimes when they get to that office - it's a roll of the dice, no matter who ends up there - at least of the only 3 dems that appear to have a chance.

With some people it wouldn't be - Al Gore, Biden, Dodd come to mind, but out of the 3 top tier, I think my safest bet is with Obama, based on his "past performance."

Have a great day.

13. Wrong.
I love the way you and others throw around phrases like that without the least little bit of factual information to base it on.

"Gut feeling," huh? :D

17. Do you even read your signature picture?
Have you read the whole poem "The Cure at Troy"? If so, how you could respond with such an empty, hyperbolic assessment as what you offer here? People cling to the wrong things if they believe in the power of words and the hope they inspire? What a bunch of ridiculous nonsense.

7. MUCH more about the power of words...
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 06:42 PM by silverweb
_here_... words from leaders and orators past and present.

Read these passages and then assess how they make you feel, how they could make you act.
