The National Republican Campaign Committee recently held a contest to find the best pro-Republican YouTube videos. They promised to post the top-five videos submitted onto their site where the public could vote on the best one.

Then the deadline passed and the Republicans ran into a bit of a problem. Only five videos were submitted. The one posted above is one of them.

Will the Republicans honor their word to put the top five videos up for the public to vote on? Would you not love to see this made the official Republican "netroots" video?

1. This will be VERY interesting, indeed!
You think that the GOP will put it up in hopes that their base will be too stupid to realize it is satire?

2. Well they promised to put up the top-five videos, and this is clearly in the top five
They also promised to allow the public to vote on those top five videos. I know which one I'm voting for.

6. Yeah, I know not much but they look bad by not putting it up as well
Edited on Mon Nov-26-07 09:01 PM by MN Against Bush
Either they put it up and it very likely wins, or they back off on their contest and embarass themselves. Aside from that however there may be more than embarassment at stake if they chose to not put the video up. I don't know if it would be legal for them to back out at this point. They may well be legally required to abide by the terms of their agreement as it is not legal to advertise a contest and then refuse to issue the prizes as they were promised. Whether they obey the law or not though, well it is hard to have much trust in them on that either.

4. Maybe!
Considering the number of people who thought/think Stephen Colbert was/is a die-hard conservative, you may have a point.

29. Their base
IS too stoopid to realize it's satire (ref, eg, 'Get a brain! Morans!')

(...wonder whatever happened to that guy?)

Although I suspect the GOP will quietly drop the contest, or just modify the results.

32. They're busy getting some staffers in publican congress critter
offices to come up w/ something....anything so they can declare a winner. 'Winning' a publican contest is easier to rig than an election afterall.

10. Unfortunately they can, and probably will, disqualify this video.
From here: http://nrcc.org/contest/default.asp?ID=154

Must be suitable for broadcast on national television and not contain any content or performance that is sexually explicit, sexually suggestive, offensive, illegal, pornographic or obscene or that is in bad taste or is otherwise objectionable to the NRCC, in its sole discretion;
But this whole incident is funny as hell. They only got 4 legitimate entries.

12. Maybe they should extend the deadline a bit.
There's probably a few freepers who are still trying to finish their drawings on the bottom corner of a tablet of paper.

13. Loved the video!
As for how the Repugs will handle their contest? Like everything else - they'll cheat. They'll pay an ad agency to create a video which they will have some paid minion submit for them. Said minion will also be paid hush money.

Course they don't have as much money to pay for stuff like that these days, do they?

the RNCC uses their videos in the ad...

and "We want the funk" by Parliament/Funkadelic as the music...

intellectual property rights, right?

28. The answer is no…
if you’re a lobbyist, the drug industry, big oil, mining companies. But yes if you’re a middle class family, working for minimum wage, trying to end George bush’s catastra-fu**

18. Those guys are satirical geniuses. Sign them up!!
Seriously, the DCCC really does need creative types to help them with their ad campaigns. These guys are a lot better than whoever they've been using. Quickly and succinctly, they made their points in a way even the dumbest Republican could understand.
