41. Exactly what they were trying to do. Sad part is no one else...
spoke up on the impeachment issue, if someone else would have they wouldn't have been able to discredit the only one talking about impeachment, they would have had to go after whoever else spoke up. Doesn't look like there are too many candidates running for president that are presidential enough to stand up and speak for the people, what a shame!

34. You can barely hear the beginning of the applause as the clip ends
It's cut. This was part of the debate I listened to very carefully, and there was noticeable applause after Dennis finished speaking. Fortunately, I had stopped yelling and applauding long enough to catch it at the time. I don't think it was cut on purpose for any other reason than Russert had already started asking the next question. Too bad he stepped on the audience reaction so quickly.

Go, Dennis, go! It felt so cool to blurt out the word "illegal!" at the same time Dennis said it. How refreshing to finally hear someone from Congress actually say these things in a national forum.

:7

Welcome to DU, lyonspotter!

6. My regard for Tim Russert plummeted tonight. I'd always liked and stood up
for him, but this question had no place in a presidential debate. It was insulting and mean-spirited.

It kills me to say something negative about my guy, but I thought that "joke" at the end about Giuliani helping out Dennis with the UFO thing was uncalled for.

God love Dennis!

42. My regard for Russert plummeted in 2003 when he interviewed Rumsfeld
and Russert didn't ask one question about the Office of Special Plans that was set up in Rummy's Pentagon to stovepipe bogus intel about Iraq.

49. Did you see when Bill Moyers interviewed Russert a few months ago
and he showed him how Cheney on Meet the Press had lied to Russert in the leadup to the war? And Russert just sat there and didn't even blink. Moyers showed him how he had completely failed as a journalist and Russert was just stone faced.

All I could think of was how many of our troops had died in the illegal invasion of Iraq and how all we had needed to prevent those deaths was a journalist like Tim Russert to do his job and challenge Bush and Cheney. But instead he let Cheney sit there in his studio and lie.

I wanted to jump through my TV screen and put my hands around Tim Russert's neck. What a worthless piece of shit he is.

55. I didn't see that, but I would have liked to.
The majority of the ill-informed public has a lot of respect for Russert, what with the nice book he wrote about his father and all.

Too bad he betrays the public by helping to cover up the crimes of the current administration.

11. All you folks watching--remember to Kick and Recommend!
If you're new to DU,
kick means click "reply" and then type something, so the thread will pop back up to the top of the forum.
"Recommend" means recommend it for the 'greatest' page.
Doing both is the recipe for getting more people to see this.

27. What a shame, The after debate commentary by MSNBC only
focused on his UFO comment, they didn't even bring up his impeachment comments. I guess the UFO question was a way for the media to try derail and sidetrack Kucinich for his call for impeachment. The corporate media do have an agenda and it's definitely not a our agenda.

30. NPR has Chosen Queen Hillary
I don't know when this started but the job of the media is to REPORT the news, not to persuade people to elect a certain way. NPR "reported" that all other candidates were attacking Hillary, "democratic candidates were following the leader" this is exactly what they say. I don't know about you, but this is not news. NPR "national public radio" I want to know how publicly funded they are?

32. The only one not playing around.
Our country is in deep doodoo and he is the only one who seems to get it. I think these times call for the most soberminded, straight talking, no games-playing, trustworthy, tolerant forward thinking person, (who also honors the oath to protect the Constitution!)---and he is it. Edwards or Gore can be his vice.
