" Like many of her GOP colleagues, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) has positioned herself as a staunch defender of Israel and friend of Jews everywhere against President Obama’s supposed lack of Jewish support.

But she ran into some trouble while trying to trying to show off her Yiddish skills on Fox News last night, pronouncing the word “Chutzpah” — meaning audacity — as “choots-pa.” As With “Chanukah,” the “ch” should be pronounced as an “h,” but apparenly Bachmann missed that lesson in pandering school. :rofl:

The rolling gaffe spigot known as Representative Michele Bachmann (R-MN) has graced us with another full-blown blooper reel - right from the floor of the House of Representatives.

Congresswoman Bachmann this time, trying to make a point about regulatory burden and high taxes, totally blows history. She blames FDR for the "Hoot-Smalley Tariff" and how that turned a recession into a depression.

Small problem - actually a couple of them...the Smoot-Hawley Act (named after Senator Reed Smoot and Rep. Willis Hawley) was signed into law by President Herbert Hoover in June of 1930. FDR wasn't in office until January of 1933. Future legislation had watered it down to nothing by 1934. Here's a helpful timeline of depression-era stuff.

I'm not really sure if Bachmann's MN colleagues have pulled her aside and suggested she edit herself a little more. If not they really should. I have this strange feeling that her staff is actually a bunch of undercover, snarky Dems who feed her garbage and then sit back and laugh hysterically. What other answer could there be? Dylan and Ethan Ris recently said, "We're seriously tempted to stop doing any work and simply replace our blog posts with an RSS feed of stories about Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN)." I'm tempted to join them.
