2. Here is my letter to the editor of my local newspaper.
I submitted the following letter this morning, and I was advised that it would be published in Sunday's edition of the newspaper.

Birthers are un-American

For those of us born in the United States, our standard-issue birth certificate from the state in which we were born represents our citizenship papers. It is practically impossible to obtain a “long form” birth certificate.

In 2008, Barack Obama released his standard-issue birth certificate from the state of Hawaii. Despite the fact that there was not one shred of evidence to suggest that it was a forgery, its authenticity was challenged by the birthers. Recently, in a nearly unprecedented action, the state of Hawaii issued the long form to President Obama who released it to the media a few days ago. Thereafter, some powerful Republican voices such as Andrew Card said that the long form should have been released years ago.

No, the long form should not have been released in 2008, or now, or ever. What we now have is the dangerous precedent wherein a fringe group of reality deniers led by a wealthy bully can put anyone they do not like for reasons of race, creed, color, etc., to the impossible test of producing a long form birth certificate or else risk having their citizenship rights nullified.

I say “out” with the Republican Party which spawned this danger and vote Democrat.

4. I think that this issue just opened a dialogue.
Yes, the right-wingers were questioning our legitimacy any way they can. It's a pecking order.

Born in America? Yes No
Born to two American parents? Yes No
Attend Christian Churches? Yes No
Attend Christian School? Yes No
Military Service Yes No
Descended from Anglo-Americans? Yes No.

The more yes answers, the higher up you are on the hierarchy. You have standing, reputation and entitlement. The problem is, that Republicans find a way to corrupt this hierarchy by allowing them wiggle room which nobody else is given.

5. well she stated exactly how I felt
and why a lot of us were ticked that he capitulated to them. Not being mad at him per se but mad at them for they were doing TO him. We all knew what was happening. And when I say 'we' I mean supporters of all colors. I was suddenly thrown back to the 60's during desegregation. I came to realize he did it to shut the media up..not them. But dammit he shouldn't have had to. Donald Trump needs a swift right across his big fat mouth...and MSM should know they're very much complicit.

I was like others in tears when they gathered in Chicago and he spoke. Thinking wow! We did it. Wouldn't MLK be joyful. Now they want to take that away. Well screw'em. It's their problem. Obama is a man who happens by way of birth to be black. He spoke to me who happens to be white by way of birth. Does he care I'm white? Do I care he's black? Are we ever going to grow up?

Thanks for posting..helped me to vent.

Somethings never change...hopefully some people will...but
they`re still trying to discredit the President. All Donald

9. I wish I could rec this a few more times
Seriously, this gets to the essential truth of what the birthers are about. They are not about proving some mythical lie, they are about attempting to make the president look dishonest. And HELL YES they are racists.

I am not the problem.

I see a direct parallel between what they are doing now to de-legitimize Obama, and what they did to de-legitimize John Kerry, over his war service. Same document games. Same lies. Same movable feast of whack-a-mole untrue allegations. They SMEARED him in broad daylight with the most despicable shit.

It may very well carry the connotation of a racial issue to some people with certain experiences in their lives, and for some of the birfers, it may well be a racial issue, but I can promise you this:

If Obama was a fleshy pink/white guy, and there was some question if he had actually been born in France, these fuckers would still be all over him about the birth certificate. GUARANTEED.

They will do ANYTHING to de-legitimize a Democratic President. ANYTHING. If you think otherwise, you weren't paying attention when they drug out Monica Lewinsky's dirty laundry against another fleshy pink Democratic President.

11. When I saw this on TRMS I was stunned...
it moved me to look up grio.com and leave a message. Ms. Taylor gave an eloquent and enlightening view, it was powerful...and we should have passed these hurdles many years ago, but we keep seeing people put up more and higher hurdles.

What a world we live in...we just never seem to learn.

15. I have to agree Ms. Taylor put into words what many minorities feel these days.
As a minority myself living in Arizona, I have been stunned at the recent events over the last two years at how popular racism has become in the Republican Party, the party of Lincoln. When I was young in the 60s I heard a joke that originated in the south. "What do you call a black nuclear physicist in Mississippi?...nigger." Now in the south it's "What do you call a black, harvard educated man who is President of the United States?"

13. But he certainly didn't have to.Like holding a mirror up to a man who won't believe his nose is blee
ding. How many now still believe he's not a natural born US citizen...Iowa republicans will now claim they never thought such a thing. A busy man looked up from his desk and said stop being so petty and silly...we have important issues to deal with.

Please someone tell me God has replaced Holder as AG. Hmm...wikileaks or banksters...wikileaks or banksters...hmm. Ted Stevens or Don Siegleman...Stevens or Siegleman...decisions, decisions, decisions.
