While I desire to see the guy wearing a tar and feather suit, and taking an express rail outta Dodge, I understand why a private event with a cover charge would ask that the video cams get turned off.

Your suggestion deals with that nicely - don't give them fuel. Hide the freaking camera (like O'Keefe) and nail the little piss ant.
