When will Harry Reid stop playing victim and instead of declaring the Democrats in the Senate cannot get enough votes to withdraw our forces from Iraq..
Declare that the Republicans in the senate cannot get enough votes to continue funding the occupation.
When will Senate and House Democrats declare that supporting the troops means "protecting" them from Bush's 'use 'em till we lose 'em troop strategy. It means protecting them from being "forced" to fight and die policing a civil war where they are being killed by all parties at one time or another and not just al quaeda. Where we have not made a dent in sectarian cleansing but merely isolated the waring parties and our being killed just for being the occupying force.
Victory means keeping them alive till we can get them out of this quagmire Bush has created to support the war profiteers and big oil.
It's not our soldiers who are defeated if we leave Iraq but rather Bush who is obsessed with Iraq to the point that he will hold the troops hostage as blackmail to get the funding for his war profiteers. The Iraqis themselves will throw al quaeda out of the country if we would just get out of the way.
Victory means bring our troops home and out of the clutches of Bush and Cheney who are willing to sacrifice them all rather than admit their failures as leaders.
Stand up Reid and quit playing the victim...You have what Bush wants...Not the other way around. Don't give it to him till he does what our nation is demanding...immediate troop withdrawal. You have our full support in this.

He says some troops could be going home, while also saying he's "playing for October/November."

The two actions are not mutually exclusive. He'll bring some troops home to pretend there's been success and to make the public think the war is something less than perpetual, but he'll also act to maintain a long-term presence.

This Special Comment seemed a bit over-the-top and less-than-forthright, to me.
