Internationally known scientist and evolution advocate, atheist, and author speaks about the visit of the Pope to the UK, and the Pope's
comments about atheists and Hitler. Reading from Hitler's own writings about his Christian upbringing, and Hitler's radically racist anti-semite philosophy based upon such religious background. A few other choice comments about the backwardness, sexism, and criminal actions of the Catholic church.

Not mincing words.

1. Wow, right on. Richard really speaks truth to power.
The Catholic Church rapes little boys and Catholic parents keep bringing their children back for more brainwashing. When will the cycle ever end?

2. Well Dawkins is wrong about Stalin.
The man was a seminary student, and while he turned on his church for supporting the czars, he remained a believer.

4. He was, but he was nominally and publicly an atheist.

5. He was tough on the church, but let it survive.
And called on them as needed.

12.  publicly an atheist.
But of course, his "purges" were NOT in the name of atheism. Besides, replacing an infallible god with an infallible political party is not atheism.

3. Oh, that was truly a thing of beauty
The Roman hierarchy is rotten beyond redemption and he's pointed that out beautifully, while giving Pope Ratz a history lesson.

I've always wished I could see the church in the US (and elsewhere) break with Rome.

6. I really liked this
and recommended it the first time it was posted too.

The Pope's statement was really jarring. Seemed designed to deflect news attention from the apology he had just had to give for all the abuses of his priests.

10. Hitler made a point of telling us that he was only doing what the Catholic Church had done....

to Jews ... for fifteen hundred years!!

The only difference he said was that he was finishing the job!

Hitler was a baptized Catholic and very much in awe of the pagentry -- religious rituals!

Here's the quote

"Well, what do you really object to in my treatment of the Jews?
I have certainly been consistent. I am doing what the Catholic Church has already done for fifteen centuries.
The different between the Church and me is that I am finishing the job."

13. I'm betting the little light in the Pope's window is burning bright tonight
as he worries what Richard Dawkins said.
I am not a supporter of the Roman church, but it seems a little hubristic (is that a word?) to think the Pope is 'smacked down'.

14. I had to use the title of the video. I think the "smack down" was
about the outrageous statements of the Pope regarding atheism and the rise of Hitler.

Germans were, by and large, Christians and Jews at the time of Hitler, not many atheists, as the Pope falsely tried to claim were the "problem" with Germany under the 3rd Reich.

Pretty easy to "smack down" an outright LIE!
